Photographer’s Note

Together with Lars/Tue and another friend, I went a day to Germany.

This is Cologne/Köln, the Germany's fourth-largest city after Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. Cologne has almost 1 million inhabitants and was founded by the Romans in the year 30 BC. I took this photo from the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom). As you can see, it wasn't a very sunny day.

About the photo: slightly rotated (0.1 degree), cropped, warmified, increased contrasts and saturation in Photoshop. Resized and sharpened in IrfanView.

Hej Stefan,
Mooie foto vanaf de Dom. Het was niet het mooiste weer, maar dat heiïge geeft weer zijn eigen sfeer. Dat rijtje gekleurde huizen aan de markt en de kerk staan er in ieder geval uitstekend op, net zoals de twee bruggen, leuk dat er op de voorste net een tram reed.

wonderful shot from up on the cathedral onto the old part of town (altstadt) and gross st- martin, stef! :-)
some nice little details hidden everywhere like the streetcar on the Deutzer Bridge, the
Severinsbridge in the bg and the Ferris wheel behind Gross St-Martin.
the haze does a good job, i guess i clear blue would may have been nice, but kind of "boring".

Hi, Stef. I love Cologne. In this city a lived when I was one year old until I was three. As you say was (like Zaragoza, Spain) founded by the Romans (6 years before Zaragoza) with the name Colonia Agripina.
This picture taken from the very landsmark of the city shows some of the important things there: the Severinsbrücke bridge built from 1956 to 1961 and the St. Martin church destroyed in the WWII and reconstructed.
I like the colorful fassades on the center of the picture. I think these are on the Alter Markt, the Old Market square.
Great picture with great details that evokes me great memories. Thanks.
