Photographer’s Note
This beautiful statue is one of the many that adorn the grounds and temples of the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
The Grand Palace is a riotous display of colour and form, of statues and guardian spirits and images of Buddha. Gold and metalwork, jewellry and glasswork glitter and sparkle in the sunshine. To first time visitors the lavish splendour is a little overwhelming.
The Grand Palace was built when Rama I moved the capital to Bangkok in 1782. Successive kings and their families lived in the palace compound until Rama V (King Chulalongkorn) moved the royal residence to Dusit in 1904.
Image shot with my new Canon 100mm macro lens which I had purchased the day before and was experimenting with. I've found out that aswell as the expected macro work, you can actually get some really good results by using the macro lens for portrait work.

Rich

Nice shot, maybe the golden flower could have been slightly set off a bit from the guardian figure behind (by moving leftward), but I don't know why no one gave you a thumb up for it.
off the uncitiqued gallery, finally!
