One of the delights of Porto Seguro, the thriving sea board city in the south of Bahia where we spend the second part of our stay in Brazil with our dear friend Isabel, are the very nice and charming buffet restaurants serving local dishes. This one, on the beach in the northern part of town, was shot during a lovely early morning stroll along the beach before breakfast. Restaurant Minas Bahia advertises 30 different plates and it uses an artisan wood burning stove …and aroused our appetite and made us quicken our pace back to the hotel – for the breakfast buffet :-)

Before I forget, the architecture. On display here is the for the region typical blend of Portuguese trad architecture (the roof on the left) and the colourful box type clap board structure adorned with classic billboard painting. Great.

Home cookin’ is an album of jazz organist Jimmy Smith, with Percy France, Kenny Burrell and Donald Bailey (re)released on Blue Note in 1958 (2003) and engineered and remastered by the incomparable Rudy van Gelder .

PCS2 tech: cropped, got rid of the spots and smudges resulting from a verrry dirty sensor, altered the saturation, contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, USM-ed , added a frame and saved for the web.

beautiful and colourful is what describes this city scene. The bright colours of the building contrast nicely with the natural colours of the trees. Good exposure and saturation to deliver this little piece of Brazil. Thanks and nice job Bert.

Hi Bert,

Wow! I can't get over how brightly coloured this photo is. Beautiful colours and beautiful light - typically Brazilian!

Good composition, good detail and well framed. Oh, and a useful note too. Perhaps a couple of people in the frame would have added a bit of life, that's my only suggestion, but otherwise it's great!

Hallo Bert,
Je weet dat ik van diepe verzadigde kleuren houd vol met contrast en dat is precies wat ik hier zie. Zoveel kleur en licht, werkelijk schitterend om te zien.
Je pp werk is dan ook zeer degelijk en goed uitgevoerd....zoals dat hoort..!!
De compositie met het huis iets links geplaatst waardoor er rechts diepte ontstaat is mooi opgebouwd...prima werk.

Quite a paradise......The screaming colors are superb. The typical architecture is well framed into the nature. Nice play between light and shadows.

Hi Bert,
A photo that impacts for the play of colors, the facade of this restaurant was not to be missed and the polarization helped enhance their contrast to get a rather unusual but very nice combination of them. I like as well the exotism I can gather from this image.

Mooie kwaliteits foto Bert, dit is gewoon klasse, de diepe kleuren, en het spel met licht en schaduw maakt alles nog zo veel mooier, prachtige samenstelling zoals b-gewoonlijk van u.

I love the well saturated colours no doubt enhanced by the wonderful early light and polariser. There's a great contrast between the natural and the man-made. How could you resist?!

I love the strong colours here. The orange colours of the house would possibly looks terrible in many other environments but here it looks very natural. Very well seen and an excellent job. Have a nice weekend!

What a place Bert, quite some contrast to Rotterdam. Top capture with the perfect light presenting the restaurant and palms dominated sourroundings to the best. Must have been a great travel..

Dit is natuurlijk een schitterde foto, maar ik had hier nu natuurlijk een dramatische foto van de Rotterdamse marathon verwacht. Veel water, zweet en afzien. Maar die komt vast nog wel. Ik zie er naar uit.

Wat een verzameling heerlijk aantrekkelijke kleuren, die mooi worden benadrukt door het prettige licht. De natuurlijke kleuren van de lucht en de bomen zorgen voor een mooi soort contrast met de felle kleuren van het gebouw. Uitstekend werk!

I like the holiday feel this colourful building surrounded by tropical trees gives.
The colours of the building are well saturated and stand out nicely against the polarized sky.
