Ganges early morning - Varanasi Photo

Photographer’s Note

5:30am in Varanasi, Ganges river, wonderful light that lasted for 15 minutes. the only time I got up that ealy in India... what a shame.

Thanks to the morning light, there's a nice restful mood to this photo, but I do think you could have done better in terms of composition. The tilt doesn't bother me, but I think if you had included the boatman's reflection the shot would have been a lot stronger.
The central placement works well though, and I like how the boat and man are framed by the other unoccupied boats.

Hi Maciej ,
Lot of shots were taken at varanashi but still the thirst remains. This is a very well composed shot.
Wonderful lighting condition and brilliant take.

i really like this one..
it's simple.. very unlike what you usually go for..
but i love the serenity in this one..
i love the light in banaras at dawn and at dusk..

The beauty here lies in the almost monochromatic subtlety of tones, he meditative feel of the thing... The central positioning of the rower is a matter f taste - it neither bothers me here, nor does it thrill me...;o)

Lovely shot as I said on Flickr! The tones/light/colors are to die for. It's got this serene atmosphere that one feels in the morning, before the buzz of life really starts.

Wow, Maciej... simply superb... the colours, the mood, the utter quietude... and the way his ore is throwing lovely concentric ripples in the morning Ganges. This is an example in which "simplicity" is all one needs, enwrapping us in a sense of meditative quietude. Love that shaft of light that gives the fisherman a backdrop while the boats are still in relative darkness.

Piekne zdjecie wspaniale oddajace spokoj poranka. Czlowiek kierujacy łodzią wydaje się kompletnie zatopiony w swoim zajeciu. Zdecydowanie czesciej powinienes wstawac tak wczesnie :)

I am a recent member to join Trekearth. I like your pictures. This one caught my eye...beautiful light. The feel of the early morning is very nicely captured. The ripples and the reflection of the early light on the water makes the picture come alive.
