Photographer’s Note

Another shot of the woman outside the Old Believers church in Daugavpils. I gave her reasonable contribution then asked if she minded me taking her photo. She obligingly resumed her passive pose while I got on with it.

She seem to show some resignation in her face, sadness perhaps. Very nice portrait of this woman with the beautiful church in the background. A well composed picture with nice colours and contrast. Thanks Richard.

Hi Richard,
Indeed your map has 2 holes, BY and much more surprisingly Germany !
With her getting back to her original pose you got here not a studio like photo but a one that transmits a powerful feeling of fatality. With such a pro camera you could get more attention than wished in BY though, better go for a Zenit compact ;-)

You have definitely captured an interesting expression here, Richard - whether it's sadness or not I can't tell.
Good colours in her headscarf and in the background.
So I don't do portrait shots myself, I am interested by your method to asking. I might try it myself sometime.
