Reflections of a mountain Photo

Photographer’s Note

Between two frontiers.

According to a Bolivian map of Bolivia, this should be Quisi Quisini mountain, and according to a map of Peru (that happens to include a little of northern Chile), this is Chungara Lake. The mountain is in Bolivia and the lake in Chile. This place is in Chile, some meters after crossing the Bolivia-Chile border at 4600m above sea level in the highway Arica-La Paz, 70km east of Putre.
The mountain is being reflected on a thin film of ice on the lake, not on the (liquid) water itself.
A very cold place.
Shot with Agfa-something ISO 100 slide film.

Adjusted a little in PS, desaturated blue and cyan a little, applied Gaussian blur to the sky and unsharp masking to the rest.

Nice photograph, Jürgen. The reflection of the mountain over the lake is perfect, like a reflection in a wet mirror.
Also, the colour of the sky is beautiful, so blue in the top of the photo and a medium blue near the mountain.
And, I think you`re right when you say that the place is very cold seeing the iced top of the mountain.

Nice picture, even if it seems too center, and a bit fuzzy. But as I like the vulcano and the mountains, I will say Weel done Jutgen.

Great reflections, a beautiful volcano. I like the sharp contrast (the high altitude?) blue sky and the white of the snow.

I like the landscape and the way you mirrored the mountain.
A few things bother me though. The photo is a bit too soft, the foreground is dark and you have some lens flare in the sky.

Quelle pureté ! Beau cadrage car même si la symétrie n'est pas toujours conseillée, ici, le bleu du lac fait le pendant avec le bleu intense du ciel. Bravo !

Hi Juergen, according to me it's Laguna Chungara in Chile and Volcan Sajama in Bolivia. I've been there as well and I have similar photo with less water because it was may, not august.
Nice photo, just there is a clearer ball in the sky to the right of the volcan you may want to remove.

Wow, this view is really amazing. Beautyfull snowy mountain top. The reflection is also perfect. But was there a problem with the lens or something? There is a big white circle on the right of the mountain?

This is Sajama, the highest mountain of Bolivia, which reaches over 6000 meters of altitude, and you got it perfectly well, with a good reflection.

What a brillient picture jergen! White snow peak is vry well balanced in dark surrounding. I wanted somthing else in the frame too so that one can relate to the mountain's actual size. And the reflection is just perfect. Why do I see a patch in the sky...is it sun flair..? Very nice indeed!!

Hi Jurgen
I know this place.
It is the Chungara lake.
In the background the mountain is Parinacota volcano, just behin the volcano you can see just a little bit on other volcano : The Pomerape.
I's a very nice shot.
Please change the location for TE improvement.
