O Sole Mio Photo | TrekEarth

Photographer’s Note

As requested by some of you, I am going on with my Venitian trip. This shot was taken on the same evening as Canal Grande and is another sun effect on this magnificent canal.

Gondoliers are normaly requested to sing the famous O Sole Mio (Oh my Sun) but did you know that this song is not at all from Venice but from Napoli ? and that of course, the most known version is certainly It's now or Never by Elvis Preley in 1960.

I like the sparkles in the water highlighted by the solo boatman ... quite a romantic scene. You've captured and composed the scene well. Excellent! tfs

A well composed backlight scenery!
The shimmering water gives a special effect to the image, not many details in the gondola but I see this as more a capture of a mood...

Ce diaphragme très fermé a restitué des myriades d'étoiles. Cela donne une photo originale bien que légèrement confuse à mon gout. La compo 1/3 est certe classique mais belle.

Sparkling water and a nice silouette of the boat against the sunlight. Good idea for this shot. It does look display solitude and peacefulness as the man moves slong the water. Good work Christian.

Hi Christian,
Gondolas are of course well known cliches of Venice. But they usually are on water with somewhat muddy look. Not on this one where backlight creates counless little stars on the water surface. Beautiful. Those exposure values are amazing too.

This another great shot of Venice and an unusual one with the strong backlighting and reflections from the water. This is definitely a candidate for a fine art print. This is not a typical travel shot of Venice. I love the silouetted figure against the dramatic backlighting. Well done!

Wow, this was a surprise. I couldn't even tell what this was when I saw the thumbnail, but when I opened it up I was blown away. Truly an original vision of Venice. The sparkles look magical, and really add to romantic feel of the photo. I love it.

Il faut mettre ses lunettes de soleil pour regarder ta photo, c'est éblouissant. Bravo pour la gestion de la lumière qui n'a pas du être évidente. C'est l'image romantique par excellence. Beau travail et merci pour la petite note.
