Photographer’s Note
A low-lost barbershop in one of the less glamourous districts of Manila. The shop is open all day and most of the night, this is taken around 10pm.
Tech: scan from negative. Slight cropping, but I left the foliage in the picture so it looks like I am looking inside.

hi Josh, it is a nice picture, i like this B&W and the composition. good to see the guy's reflection in the mirror. i wish the guy at the back wasn't obscured by the leaf. anyway, good stuff

Interesting shot Josh. I like your b&w stuff. I think this might be better from a slightly different vantage point, as there is not much going on at the right, other than the sign, and the left is kind of crowded, with the plant obscurring a couple people in the background. Perhaps this would also work had you shot it from a little to the right? Although, moving to the right would cut down on the impact of the guy in the mirror, which is a strong element in this photo. Not sure my way wouldn't look worse....hmmmmm.
Good shot of everyday life.

Hey, you just about a whole themes worth of haircuts. I think I like this one the most, and the B&W suits the subject well. Interesting different poses, the expectant client, and the busy hairdresser.

josh I like this, strong journalistic feel further reinforced by the BW look.
the plant framing one side makes it feel like we're given a rare chance to take a quick peek into the barbershop :)
Cool :)

Great daily life shot, coming out perfectly in B&W. I like the POV, discrete but at the same time capturing the mood of the place.

very good shot Josh. good use of the light. what i like the most is the way that guy is reaching his hand towards the mirror and how the hand's going to touch its reflection. very good work.

I like your decision to keep the foliage in, draws out attention to the people that hide behind it. I like the fact that the man who's face is turned away from us is clearly reflected in the mirror so we don't lose his sense of identity. Very intimate shot I feel. Well done!

Very nice document of this business. The TV is there and the men are in work. Nice that it is the obscured man that are in the reflection...
The BW is clear with nice tones!
