Photographer’s Note
The Pyrenees stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea (430 km) and creates a natural border between France and Spain.
It offers lots of hiking trails for hardcore hiking or for pleasent day-hikes.
The most famous of the hikes is The High Route (Haute Randonnée Pyrénéenne) and can be walked in the full length of The Pyrenees, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea.
I did a part of The High Route in an 8 days hiking trip, crossing betweeen France and Spain several times.
I don't consider myself to be a hardcore hiker, but an experienced one and I must admit it was hard, especially when carrying a 25 kg backpack. But all the struggle is well rewarded with some stunning views.
The landscape and climate changes while you swift between the french side and the spanish side of The Pyrenees and that's quite fascinating to witness.
-The Pyrenees are named after Pyrene, which means fire in greek.

You have re-awaken a dream I had a long time ago, This looks wild and a trip across the whole lenght would be a real challenge. Many thanks for the note too as I will now investigate this further
