At the northwest of the Canaries archipelago, a few hundred miles from the coast of north-west Africa, lies the island of La Palma, also known as La Isla Bonita, because of its extraordinary natural beauty.

La Palma is one of the smaller of the Canary islands, with a surface area of 706 square kilometres and a population of only 80,000. It is unusual in that it rises exceptionally steeply from the ocean, the entire central mountain range exceeding 2000 m in altitude. The highest point on the island is the Roque de los Muchachos (2426 m), the location of the astronomical observatory

Yes it's great there. This photo did I make on the very sunny side of the Island, by my apartment at the habour. I like the photo I cropped him a little, I hope you like it too

Ook is de foto al 2 jaar oud, het blijft een prachtig zicht Jaap, u was daar wel mooi gelegen naar het zien van dit beeld. Scherp en kleurrijke foto, mooie diepte met alle goede detail, goede herinneringen. Bedankt.

Mooie sfeervolle plaat, Jaap, met de fraaie lage vroege avond(?)licht. De compositie is perfect met de kaderand op de voorgrond en de met wolken afgetopte naar zee aflopende bergen - mooi diep. De kleuren en scherpte maken het af. Erg goed werk, bedankt!

Nice photo. The only thing I would change is to crop a bit of the foreground as I find it a little bit distracting.

This is a picturesque harbour scene. I agree with Katsuhiro's comment about the foreground being a bit distracting, and I think he has done a fine workshop on it.

A shot with my favourite boats, thus set in a fine perspective and with a lovely light, Jaap. Colours are superb and the opening at distance is drawing the sight to its depth. Very good job!

This picture is as engaging as your macro shot. I would say crop the bottom part. Let us concentrate more on the boats. Great shot Jaap. Thanks.

Mooie rots met goede scherpte, de lucht is goed, de bootjes "varen" er wel bij en het paaltje, natuurlijk !

Bonne composition qui a mes yeux comporte de jolis détails.J'aime bie le fait d'avoir inclu cette bite d'ammarage car cela donne une belle vision de la profondeur de l'image.

Ah, what a splendid view, Jaap, just to my liking. You get a very good depth from your composition with the little boats in front of the steep cliff, and the view along the coast. The colors and the light are great. I prefer your version with the foreground to the workshop. Well done.

Looking at this photo, made me sad. I don't have this colorful boats, floating on the blue sea or to have a cliff to enjoy such flotillas. Now I have seen "La Isla Bonita" when before I have heard someone singing it. Thank you Jaap.

Une photo très agréable à voir avec cette flottille de barques qui sont bercées doucement par les mouvements de l'eau sous une belle lumière du Sud.

Hi Jaap,
Wonderful harbor scene with the lovely little wooden fishing vessels reflecting in the riffling surface of the peaceful harbor that is wonderfully framed by the rugged cliffs that contrast brilliantly with the blue sky.

Nice little harbour Jaap, filled with great colours. The boats looks nice with their reflection and creat fine contrast to this cliff. Depth is very good and light is nicely managed. A very well photography.
