Photographer’s Note

From the carnival in venice.

I was surprised, that these people in mask, were many coming from france. and they were professionals. During the festival, seems it's their chance to 'market' their profession as models. So they would walk around, posed for free during the carnival, then they would hand it over the name cards (received several of them) maybe if we would be interested to take more pictures of them.

One thing I learn that it was very useful to use flash to take pictures of these masquarades. Otherwise it would be black only on the eyes (happened on the first pictures before I realized it).

Nice take from the carnival, Cessy, a good rendering of the elegant masks and a nice posing captured with the position of the two faces relative to each other. The veils and ornate clothing bring a vividly colorful aspect to the photo.

A very traditionnal portrait shot of the Venetian carnival masks. Your note about these profesionnal actors is interesting and I also appreciated your tip about using the flash. Looks like it worked out fine here, with a nice detail on the eyes.

Un portrait tout en couleur de ces beaux masques de carnaval. J'aime beaucoup le qualité de la prise de vue ! On se demande tout de même quel visage se cache sous les masques. L'image pour cela empreinte d'un peu de mystère !

Hi Cessy,
A crisp clear image matched by the richness of the hues. I like the way the performer on the right has her face turned at an angle, nicely counterbalancing the other one, who gazes straight ahead. The shadow effects are enhancing, and I also like the background, where it appears an ornamental barrier/fence stands bathed in light. Well captured.

Top capture Cessy from this famous carnival where you seem to have catched the nerve of it all in this tight compo og the 2 participants. Everything in place not least their 'posing' for your camera.
