Photographer’s Note

With one of the Hamburg “Alsterdampfer (steamers)” you can make a wonderful tour across the Binnen– and Aussenalster as well as through the numerous Alster canals.

Finally I got my A2 a week ago. There is much to learn. I shoot in RAW as I got the muvo2 mp3 player with a built in 4GB microdrive. I extracted that md and saved EUR 250 that way and have an mp3 player with a smaller cf card now too :)

Any help on postprocessing the raw files is very much appreciated.

A fine hard crop and a nice composition with this high POV. The red and white stands out so well when the background is dark.

I really like the colours here, just green and red, and white and black. A contrast rich image, with a simple non-distracting colour palette. Nice work Jan!

Nice cropping and composition with good colour palette. Though picture could be a bit more contrasted and sharper. Nice that you finally get your A2...and the 4GB CF too. Raw pictures are fine and well detailed on this cam, but intentionally soft to reduce noise. If you shoot in raw you should increase contrast and usm. BTW PS CS has drivers for the latest digital cams including the A2.

Good job with this crop. Just the front of the boat and a hint of the arch of the bridge is great. I also like the texture and color of the vines along the side of the bridge. The wake of the boat and your crop also give it a sense of movement. I can almost hear this boat moving along the canal. Nice job.

A higher shutter speed may have helped to capture a sharper image here. Still very nice though.

Congratulations on the new camera, Jan. I hope you'll be sharing some more results soon ;-) This one is already a good one. Fine cropping of the boat going towards the underpass, and I like how the bright paint of the boat stands out versus the surroundings. Could perhaps be a bit sharper. Nice shot though! Unfortunately I don't have anything helpful to offer in terms of PP for raw files.

I like this boat! I don´t think this POV is the highest point of this picture, but it´s not bad. I like the overall composition, with nice sharpness and a very well managed light.
