Well, I really share what you say on your note. I liked this photo from the first second I saw it, and I can't figure outn exactly why. The boy, certainly, but also the out of focus houses on the background with fading colors, the light and the white which recalls the heat..very, very nice.

hi Eric, it is a really nice picture, good compo with the boy on the side, beautiful colors. one flaw here imo: the background ;) blurring in PS, ayah! one stone on the right side of the boy, just near his elbow is blurred partly only ;) anyway, it is a nice shot

Nice subject and very good composition. I especially like very beautiful tones.
If you blurred the background in PS you did it well - the result looks natural to me.
Well done, Eric.

Mabye it is the simplicity of the shot that makes you like it. I know that is waht does it form me :) It is "just" a young boy with a simple background and natrual colours. I guess the eyes could be a litel bit lighter but part from that it is vrey nice.

Great shot! His expression and placement in the composition is great. I like the hard light and bright colours.
The dof and background is right on the spot too.
Very well seen and captured.
Great job!

i also like that the boy doesn't look like he is posing for the photo, he is very relaxed

Now Eric, this is a wonderful photo very appropriately framed. Good DOF. Good lighting. Excellent composition.
(The frame compliments the picture very well.)

Cant explain it!!!????
Cmon eric! its a great shot for a million reasons. Shall I list them?
ok wait just read the other critiques and I can't decide whether you Gaussianed the background or not. So I'll leave DOF off the list.
ok
1. jordanian buildings as the background provide good shapes and good colors that dont take away from the subject.
2.OK Whatever that black thing is.
3. Kids expression and garb.
4. The line of rocks differentiating between front and back.
5. Framing of the farmerboy
Thats my call, but I'd like to know what PP was done.

You don't have to explain, but what I like is the composition, the logs balance the boy, the colours are a dusty white. The city in the background barely visible so it doen't disturb the main motif, but it boosts the story which automatically starts playing in ones head when looking at the smiling, kid. Another great picture from back in the day - and this time there's no chance I went to school with the kid ;o)

Great shot Eric. It is a very good capture of life in Jordan. Nothing wrong with the composition. The blur is something else............
The blur itself is OK for me, but it is very obvious that it is PS work. Maciek mentioned the stone already but it is visible almost everywhere along the borders (or do I need to have my eyes checked.......). Still interesting, because it makes me think. I take more time looking at the details. Which is also bad because TE is already costing me so much time!
I subtracted 0.5 point for the blur. 1.5=2 so you won't notice it.

ce qui est vraiment excellent dans cette photo c'est la profondeur de champs, qui montre bien l'enfant mais qui montre également le contexte.

The boy has a very warm smile and the soft colours of the background add a beautiful feeling to this pic. It's a lovely shot! You should be proud of it ;-)

this one works pretty well eric. The houses are blurred enough so as not to be too intrusive while giving information about the environment. Nice framing btw, very well suited

So do i Eric! It's a beautiful picture of a day's essence! I like the moment, well captured, the sharpness of the FG and the blurness of the BG, all very well balanced. Thanks for this wonderful shot.
Cheers,
Bruno
