Photographer’s Note
Yes I know: It's probably the 100th photo of Machu Picchu but since I took a lot of effort to get to there, I want to post it anyway.
I only had 2 days for Machu Picchu at all, meaning: I had 2 days to get from Lima to Cusco from there to Machu Picchu and back to Lima on the second day.
Everybody told me that I need at least 3 days to make but since I didn't have 3 days, what else should I do?
So I took the 6am flight from Lima to Cusco on Saturday. Arrived to Cusco at 7am. Got picked up by a driver who drove me to Ollyantambo. That took another 2 hours. From there I got the train to Machu Picchu Village which is a 1,5 hour ride. Finally, arrived to Machu Picchu after another 30 minutes bus ride. So, I had about 3 hours at Machu Picchu, enjoying the most impressive scenery I have ever seen before I had to rush back to Cusco.
After one night in Cusco, I had to take the 12pm flight back to Lima. I was really exhausted after that trip. I think it might be a it dangerous because of the high altitude sickness but I tried my best by drinking almost 1000l of coca tea. It is said that coca tea helps to avoid getting sick to high altitude sickness. For my case absolutely true: I didn't have any problems with the altitude.
Conclusion: If you only have to 2 days to get to Machu Picchu, you can make! All the people who are telling that it is impossible are wrong. You can make it and all the effort was worth it. I would do it everytime again (if I only had 2 days of course). I would love to have more time but this time it was not possible.
I just increased a bit contrast and saturation.

Update:
My first photo posted of Machu Picchu was made by my father in 2000. A bit less than 7 year later, I made it for myself to Machu Picchu to experience this great sight. Just wanted to mentioned this. Someone might think I have been there before. No: 2007 was the first time for me :-)

Yes, there are a lot of photos of this place, but to your benefit there are a couple of things:
1- It’s always a magnificent view, no matter how many times we see it
2- You’ve got a very nice image of it
To tell the truth I think this is a slightly better perspective than most of the photos I’ve seen because you are closer to the ruins allowing us to have a great view on them and all the details of the stone work. I particularly like the wall starting from the bottom left which creates a discrete guideline and also fills that area with a “minimalist” detail, forcing us to look into the main area of the photo.
Except for the need of a little bit more contrast, the clarity of the image is superb as well the colours. But the most interesting effect is the 3D feeling we get when we look at the nearby hills in relation with the background ones. It’s an amazing effect, especially in the one at the left.
