Photographer’s Note
A view from the Routeburn Track in New Zealand's South Island. This is looking down the Route Burn toward the Mt Earnslaw massif, with Mt Momus on the left. This is taken from one of the few clearings along the track between Routeburn Flats hut and Routeburn Falls hut. The weather was perfect this day, but the snow was very bright.
Scanned from a slide. Polariser used. I applied a contrast mask in Photoshop to lighten some of the shadow areas and to give better definition to the snow. I also adjusted the colours to remove the blue cast that may have resulted from not using a UV filter, or it may be that the Kodak film I used leans toward the blue end of the spectrum. I also used the noise tool in Photoshop to smooth out the graininess in the sky.

Hello Vincent
Very sharp and well composed - this is a beautiful valley. I particularly like the braided stream bed. I'm not sure whether it's my monitor, but it appears that you might take this image even a little farther from the blue side.
Regards,
Greg

Beautiful again, Vincent, and an example to others on how to scan-from-slide. Perfect colours, contrast and tone. Thanks for sharing.
