Photographer’s Note
This is the village of Padern (less than 200 inhabitants - half of them English) in the heart of the Corbières region, also known as the land of the Cathars. Above the village are the ruins of the Chateau St. Roch from the 12th century which was one of the minor castles/clifftop fortresses of the cathars. The larger ones, only a few kilometers up the road, are Chateau Queribus and Chateau Peyrypertuse. The cathars were an early Christian sect that dared speak out against the Popedom in Rome. For this they became the victims of the first Crusade and their story represent one of the many genocides in human history. Their castles bear witness to their courage.

L'année dernière en conduisant vers Tuchan, je suis passé par ici, Je n'ai pas pu photographier ce château, parce que le soleil était en face de moi.
L'exposition de l'avant-plan est correcte, mais le ciel est un peu surexposé.
Last year while driving towards Tuchan, I passed by here, I could not photograph this castle, because the sun was opposite me.
he exposure of the foreground is correct, but the sky is over-exposed a little.

You presented this fine place very well Per - so well I would like to visit and taste the wine. The castle on the cliff a nice eye catcher - also nice to see some life (the third element :-)

Wonderful image Per! What i love most here is the placement of the castle contrasting with the low positioning of the biker, creating the idea that it is still a long road to ride until the top ;) And this increases the castle majesty too. Good note too, as usual!

What a fine scenery, Per. Beautiful how the small road leads into the village, and great to see that fortress on top of the rocky hill (I have big admirations for the folks from medieval times - or in this case even earlier - who carried all kinds of materials up all kinds of hills to build castles and towers there). The sky is a bit overexposed, but otherwise a very good shot here - well done!
