Photographers Note
I had been on board the cruise ship, 'Royal Viking Sun,' plying the waters of the British Isles, when the ship docked in Aberdeen, Scotland. On a shore excursion on a bus, I visited some of the area's famous lochs including Loch Ness. Although fully prepared to shoot the Loch Ness monster, unhappily I did not see it!!!
When the bus stopped momentarily on a bridge over a river I saw the fly fisherman from the window of the bus. That pause was a stroke of luck. The telephoto lens on my camera, extended to full focal length, would have been impossible to steady, had the bus been moving.
The fly fisherman is seen standing in the river, his line flashing against the dark waters. The ten year old image was produced using an old Nikon 2020, loaded with Kodachrome-64 slide film.
I want to thank Zeca (from Brazil), who has an excellent pair of photos of a fisherman in his photo gallery for inspiring me to post the photo of the fly fisherman.

Wow, Bulent! What a nice capture! The light is great, spotted exactly on the fisherman! The sharpness is excellent, showing nice detail of the line! The dark blue/purple reflections in the back is beautiful and enhances the fisherman! Very good timing! This kind of fishing is really a fantastic way of life! Its nice to see the way the fly-fisherman dance with his line/fly on air...Well done!
And thank you very much for your kind mention of my name in your good note!
Regards from Brazil!

Hello Bulent,
I like the way you caught the light on the fisherman with his line flying in the air and the ripples in the water around him.

Merhaba Hocam,
Such an image! Like a physics lesson, sound and vibration is our subject. The curves of the flagellum is the highlight of this shot and it touches my heart. The propogation of the waves on the dark surface and the dark/light contrast caused by the reflection is geometrically completing your composition. Again a top class photography from you. Congratulations,
Warm regards,
Deniz

The picture is a bit dark but this makes an excellent background for the flying line. There is a lot of movement here, betweeen the line making like a whip in the sky, the posture of the fisherman and the circles on the water. Excellent catch !
All the best,

Hi, Bulent,
The dancing fishing line against the dark water is so dramatic. The good moment was well captured. The circling waves make the fishing man the king of the whole universe. I think the fisherman might have more fun than the shutterbug =).

A great shot Bulent. The circular ripples and the fishing line in mid-air create a great effect. I really like the colours too - it's almost monochrome (albeit blue rather than black) but naturally rather than affected.

Great shot! I am a fly fisherman myself and this is a moment very well caught with the eye and the camera. The rings in the water adds to the movement in the photo. Motive in the middle extremely good in this photo. Kind regards Jens

Hi Bulent,
A beautiful photograph which recall to me the film of Robert Redford : A river runs through it. The point of view on the movement of the fly fisher is well made. I like very much the nuance of blue in the image. A beautiful composition, cheer and thank you for the comment.

Definately an incredible decisive moment, Bulent. Not only because of the right moment of the click, but also the bus stopped for that click! It's a fantastic shot and again with excellent resolution for an old scanned photo. The fisherman is a bit overexposed and I would like to see a less central composition, but apart that it's really good. I think that this could work very well in B&W. It remind me a bit some photos of Rafal (Jinju - lonely human sillouettes in B&W with strong contrasts). Love the motion of the water around him, but the best is that long string flying like a bird.
Nice comparison with the image of Robert Redford movie - I just saw that Jean-Charles also wrote his critic today. Funny coincidence!
Friendly regards,
Ricardo

Hello Bulent,
this is a fine, well taken opportunity to photograph this man enjoying his hobby. He may be a little over exposed but what makes up for it for me is the snaking of his line and the ripples produced by his movement, it also has great light and good texture. Sadly this is not the sort of fishing I intend to do when I retire; I was thinking more of a bamboo pole with a bent nail, the combination of good wine, bread & cheese and a shady spot. In fact if I ever caught anything it would be a bit of a nuisance!
Kind regards my friend,
Stephen

Merhabalar Bulent,
excellent catch and framing!
The enlightened fisherman then is simply stunning as well the great and funny title.
A pity you didn't see the Loch Ness monster: I think it's worth once you're there ;-)
A smile

Hi Bulent,
Your use of colour and shade allows all focus to be placed on the subject. I think that you have managed to portay this moment in almost exactly the best moment; just before the line recoils and passes out of the shot. The circular ripples sent out in a shockwave-like way is splendid. The light shimmer of silver glow on the oily black background helps to break up the uniform black and adds feature. It is almost as if the man is spot-lit, a very impressive play of light indeed. Awesome sharpness and clarity. Well done sir.

Hello Professor "A"
Amazing shot...he's as if the centre of the small universe created by the concentric circles of the ripples. The line zips over his head as he is about to flip that into the water. Fascinating capture. I saw these fly fishermen when I was in Inverness in 1994, wading in waist deep water in rubber overalls. Wonderful capture!
With Warmest Regards

Hi Bulent,
Fantastic shot! You took a typical movement of the fly fishing. The light is excellent, as there was a spotlight on the artist in the stage. And the blue stage with its circles, with those reflections in the background - wonderful!!! I add it to my favourites!
What a beautiful work with the scanner!!!
Bravo!
