Barcelona Cathedral Roof Photo

Photographer’s Note

Sometimes it is difficult to judge whether pictures taken in a dull weather can be stronger than those taken in full sunshine. This may be the case here.
But it was a good decision to wait in the queue in order to get on the Barcelona Cathedral roofs with a small elevator.

Hi izzet.

I was there 2 years ago because I hadn't been before and it was a lovely view. Obviously, your composition is a different view from out Cathedral.

This is a grand view here you've captured Izzet. I like the detail and sharpness of the photo, especially the background, and also the position of the cross. But I'm wondering if you really need the little patch of blue sky at the top. I quite like the idea of just a dark and gloomy looking sky.

Patience is a good quality, for fotografers too!
A great POV on Barcelona showing many monuments and in FG this circular architecture, up to the sea in the far...Yes sometimes cloudy weather gives nice contrast(that is the case here) and good colors...

Olá Izzet, the composition is great, with the interesting round tiled roof and its cross making a good impression in foreground. After, we are able to see a very nice panorama over the city of Barcelona and a wonderful cloudy sky. Excellent work! Dramatic weathers can be stronger, inmo.

Merhaba.
A few minutes ago I've been there, in the cathedral (I've been showing the cathedral and another places of the cathedral to some friends).
It looks a bit tilt, but even then is a very remarkable picture. I like it.

Where were you also in Santa Maria del Mar?
Is much more important than the cathedra, because is the finest church in the catalan gothic.

Hey Izzet,

beautiful work. Wonderfully saturated colors, I think it was very much a good decision. I can picture the harsh bright light really washing this out, but with this sort of light you get a nice exposure without having to fight the light.

Interesting POV, Izzet, I have never been to this roof, next time I am in Barcelona I certainly will go there, as the view is fantastic, all these towers and spires... Very good to have this cross, as it balances the large building on the left.

I think you were right to wait in line to get this view. Like many people who have visited Barcelona I found it mesmerizing. I think you have captured here the reason why it is loved by so many. I also believe that the cloudy weather has added to the beauty of the photo.

I am impressed by this one to the best angle for the situation. Ingredients are here with a good sky, a nice view on the town and the good importance you have given to the pattern roof.
The cross is dominatng strongly the landscape.
A very good construction for your composition. And for sure a demonstration that the best pictures are not everytime those taken in full sunshine.
