Photographer’s Note
Prior to the third century BC there existed multiple city-states in China, each with surrounding walls to keep out invaders. Then in the third century Qin Shi Huangdi, the “First Yellow Emperor,” began an inexorable course of vanquishing and unifying these states. In the process, he used the masonry from individual city walls to build the meandering, 5000-km, ‘Great Wall of China.’
The trajectory of the wall follows the natural topography of the land, creating endless curves, and is said to be the only man-made structure that can be seen from an orbiting satellite. The view in the photographs is at Badeling Pass, close to Beijing. For more information, I would like to refer the interested viewer of the photograph to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Wall_of_China
I took the photograph in 1983, using a Nikon-F, with Ektachrome-100 film, and just recently scanned it, ostensibly to submit it to TrekEarth. This is, however, one image that can be improved by PhotoShop — sharpened, the colors corrected, and the contrast increased —somewhat.

Bonjour Bulent,
On retroube bien ici cette couleur caractéristique de cette muraille. La composition est très belle. Il est, à mon sens, juste dommage que le premier plan ne soit pas un peu plus net. Belle image cependant.

It's a pity the light and sky are so bright and white. Because the composition is nice. It is well scanned, but it need a bit more sharpnesss.

Wow, it's a fantastic compo. You almost produced a spiral. Full of movement!
Although it needs some color adjustments to decrease the green cats, overall it is very well, specially considering that it's an old film.

Hi Bulent,
I like the way you have used the archway to frame this view of the great wall. I like the people in the shot giving a good sense of scale.

Hello Bulent!
The curves are very nice, it looks like waves. Good idea not to crop out the arch. A very nice composition. Warm regards, Nina

Merhaba Bulent Hocam,

Beautifull framing to catch this multicurved effect. Sharpness is good but the colors are a bit pale in my opinion. Nevertheless, the overall is very sucessfull.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hello Professor "A"
The quality has taken a toll as far as the colours are concerned, but you have shown us an original compo. IMO. I've not seen this view of the wall through the arch & the POV from the side to have the wall winding left & then right, 'culminating' in the tower in the centre. And yes, I think the colours & all can be improved with PS in able hands..but a good image for sure.
With Warm Regards
Angshuman
