Photographer’s Note
This is an ordinary Danish cricket of the kind that one finds in gardens and fields throughout late summer, and that make that pleasant sound that reminds us all of warm summer evenings.
We had this one making noise indise the house so I caught it in a green bucket and took it outside. Before setting it free, I took this quick macro shot. And it occured to me how science fiction like ugly they actually are.
So I share it with you.

Wow - You surely have keept this fine macro shot for us a long time ;-) Execellent capture Per - I like the details and the backgrond. Was it the cricket who choose it or did you help him :-)

Very good macro of this female cricket. F-2.8 is a bit on the short side for a shot like this, slightly higher would have put the entire creature within DOF range. Contrary to Jeppe, my preference would have been for a more natural background, but on the other hand you have a free view on this kind of background ;-)

Great macro shoot, with enough sharp area !
For post processing improvement, apply some gaussian blur for background.

This is an outstanding macro Per. So many details in the body - I cannot believe it is real. And yes, it really looks like something from Alien. Excellent job - hats off.
