Photographer’s Note
The thing I like about this is that it couldn't be anywhere else but Moscow. Every major city seems to have it's free/cheap treats, in New York it's the Staten Island ferry, in Moscow it's the circle line. Every station has a magnificent collection of soviet art, and, within the genre, a wide range of styles and topics. Buy one metro ticket, and spend a happy few hours in one of the worlds cheapest and most extraordinary galleries.

I like this capture, Richard. Even though I've not been to Russia so far, it looks like a distinctive Moscow moment to me, with the Lenin artwork above the bench. The people add interest to the scene, with the two men engaged in conversation and the woman seemingly busy otherwise. A nice daily life picture. Well done, and a slightly belated but hearty welcome to TE!

Well, actually the St. Petersburg Metro offers the same kind of free museum tour (courtesy of Stalin). But I guess you saw that when you were there. I didn't manage any shots as nice as this down there. The light is not ideal. This is a flash shot I guess, and a very good one. Nice atmosphere in the scene and the three people really add a true Russian touch.

Not as a photo amateur, just as one who spent tons of time in the Moscow 'metro' I say - this is a good shot. It helps to better understand, have an adequate impression of one of the places on Earth... Thus truly in line with the TE idea!
Thank you Richard.

Hi Richard, I've heard so much about these Moscow subway paintings, it's excellent to get to see a photo of one at last. It was a good idea to include the passengers to provide scale. I'd like to see some others too, so if you have more, it would be great if you could post them! Regards, Ryno
