Photographer’s Note
My very first posting. A picture I took in 1970 on a university expedition to Scoresbyland in East Greenland. These icebergs were grounded in the shallows of the estuary of the Schuchert valley. Being foolish young students, we later drove our boat through the opening in the iceberg. Scanned from a shot taken on Kodachrome 64 with my old Edixa Prismat.
I hope this picture is of adequate quality for your site - it was taken with an old camera 36 years ago. I hope you like it: if so, I can post some others.

Hi John,
Very beautiful picture you posted.
I love the magical white icebergs against the clear blue sky.
And with the reflection in the water makes it an even more special photo.
Excellent colours ands sharpness.
Keep on posting.

Allô John!
Magnifique composition. C'est très intéressant de voir les formes que la nature peut sculptées. J'aime bien le blanc de l'iceberg qui se détache du ciel et la réflection dans l'eau.
Félicitations!... et bienvenue sur TE

Hi John,
Very nice picture. And very good also knowing you've taken it 36 years ago! (Good scan!)
The reflection on the water looks amazing.

Hi John
First of all a BIG welcome to TE. I must say if you were taking quality pictures 36 years ago with your camera of that era I can't wait to see you recent work.
You did a great job with the scan. The original is sharp with very good contrast. I would love to see a shot of you boat passing through the arch.
Give us more!!!

Welcome, John. Very nice compo, I like the cool colors and the reflections. I only wish you have managed to get the whole reflection in the pic, but I wonder if it would be possible. Anyway, it is great as it is.

Welcome to TrekEarth John! A spectacular shot, beautiful colours - very crisply white - and beautiful reflection, a fairly successful scan.
A very good note, too. Welcome again!

These shapes in the ice are ever interesting. Your POV and the colros are very nice. I think not so much was loose in this photo, only the place should have lost its ice.

OOh it's very cold and very nice.
Good scan, but you have some black dots that could be easily removed with PS or some other photo software.
Welcome to TE and keep posting.

Welcome to TE, John. Your picture suits this site perfectly, what a beauty and what a play of shapes and reflections! Your scan is of reasonable quality as well, for a 36 year-old shot; the only thing I can come up with is that maybe you could remove the dust either physically before scanning or with a clone tool in PS before posting the picture. Never mind, it's a beautiful shot and keep posting!
Cheers

Really good,
I myself went on an expedition, however we did not have boats, but only our feet.
The picture is very good and the quality too bearing in mind that it was taken 36 years ago.
I really like the scene, what a cool block of ice :-)
All the best Artur

An excellant photo and a very good scan. If you get the earlier Photoshop elements you could do some post processing which is quite easy and it will greatly enhance the image by removing the dust and scratches, I will have a go and post it on a workshop for tou to see that results.
Superb first post

Hello John,
I like this very much. The restriction on the colours gives lovely tones of colour. I particularly like the central arch which, along with its reflection, makes a great spy-hole through to the horizon.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John,
This is a lovely shot, i do like the the blue sky and the whiteness of the ice-berg, i think it's very sharp to say it is 36 years old, also nice reflections in the water, and you have done a good job with scanning well done John,

Hello John,
Those icebergs looked like " creme Chantilly " sculptures.
Thank you for sharing. 36 years ago, you made some very interesting ( and beautiful ) snapshots, in this mysterious Greenland.

Hi John,
I became curious and looked through your old photos. You posted this one long before I became a member of TE and this is your first posting and apparently one your oldest pictures.
This one has incredibly good colours and it is certainly a very good scan. I would have liked to see the size of your boat in relation to the iceberg to get a sense of size. How high was the opening?
A very fine photo with a those reflections and the very blue sky!
Greetings from Gothenburg
Gunnar
