Photographer’s Note
In Uzbekistan in general and here in samarkand, numerous medersa, or coranic schools, have now become touristic sites to sell tapestry, souvenirs and so on. You can still see locals coming to prey or see their local architectural jewels though... this is one one of them.

Beau visage.

hi Eric, it would be a great capture if it was in focus - you miseed it ;) i don't know where the camera set the focus - but I guess not on the man - he looks "too soft" ;) the man itself is very interesting - i'd try to come closer to him and shoot a portrait - the background is very interesting too. nice one, but could be nicer ;)

I like this one Eric!
The blur is ok with me, since the background is more blurred than the man. Still it would be improved with more sharpness. I guess the focal length (70-300) was to much in this lightconditions and the 50 ISO. Should have a tripod, or even better... 70mm and gone closer!
Uzbekistan is a place on my list (want to go)!

It is a bit soft but the patterns are well-seen. Now that you have been here quite a while you probably get the same comments that your composition is too centered. Since this is an old shot, I am not making that comment of that nature about your suceeding old shots.

Ahh, the 70-300mm lense? No, i'm sure its just the conversion to digital. Perhaps unsharp mask in photoshop would fix it. A closer view would be better, but i bet uzbek must be a fasinating place to visit, for some reason i've always wanted to go to that region. Good shot.

I thought I was looking at a Uzbekistani GQ model. Your coverage on demographic is pretty extensive, almost a worldly/earthly collection Eric. Its like, if someone wanted to know how a boy from Mali looked like, you have it.
Photography to me, is about getting the right scene or the right "subject" for the idea you have in mind. Sometimes, there are things getting in the way. I couldn't comment on that.
In the field of capturing demographic expression, you are a challenge.
