Photographer’s Note

Number four of this series.

Scanned image from the negative.
The quality is not the best at all, but I still want to share with you this place.

In WS, you can see an option in Sepia, which I think it's also an interesting alternative.

ABOUT THIS PLACE (taken from the Let's Go Mexico guide)

Multicolored chalupa boats boats crowd the maze of a fairly filthy canals, ferrying passengers past a floating market offering food, flowers and music. The market is specially popular on Sundays, when hordes of city dwellers and tourists pack the hand-poled chalupas. They lounge and listen to the water-borne mariachis, celebrating Mexico City's aquatic past as they munch tacos from the floating taco bars which tie up pirate-style to the passengers boats. Delicate orchids and bubbly beer are also on sale.

-----------------------------------------------

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get here on a Sunday, so most of the atmosphere described in the note, didn't happen when I was there. Nevertheless, I still got some good moments.

Here, you can see some of the multicolored chalupas from a lower POV. On the left there is a small family that arranged a group of Mariachis to play for them. If you observe well, the boat with the Mariachis is a bit over the one of the family, in order to make them stiched while floating. On the right it's a bit more confused scene, but there are some sellers trying to make some money with their products. Only the boats with the front multicolored façade and a name (each one has its own name) are for rent.

This is located in a suburb of this huge city and it takes something like two hours to get there, by subway and train, but it is really worth it.
