Photographer’s Note
While strolling with the group through les Jardins du Luxembourg, this lady was sitting at the side of the path, not where other people were, just somewhere on a path. She installed herself as if she was going sunbathing but believe me there was no sun, and she did not seem relaxed, looking at her chin. So I aimed the camera and took a shot.
The parc is a delight! In the Netherlands people hardly make use of parcs, but here people are everywhere, enjoying company, the sun, being outdoor, playing with boats, having lunch. It was a lovely visit.
I have this new fanatstic lens, the nikon 85 mm f1.8, which is a wonderful sharp portrait lens, and I tried it out in this beautiful parc.
Visiting Paris with isabel, Micahel and marike. We were strolling in the parc that day with Luko, Simon, Eric, Tom and Vero, so we were in good company. Thanks guys, for the lovely day.
In the workshop 1 you'll see Eric and Vero, looking at Vero's pictures. This is taken with the same lens. I love the bokeh.
In workshop 2 you'll see a view of a corner of the parc.

Surpised at your comment on the use of Parks back home, after visiting the Arboretum. I noticed you'd posted one from that lens before. As you say, just the thing for this. NIcely seen, I wonder what she'd make of it :-)

Hello dear Rinie! So you had lots of fun in Paris! I have seen a few of Simon's shots already, and am happy that your trip was so much joy and also so fruitful. Love this woman, an excellent moment... in fact back in Budapest, I kept taking shots of people on benches. I hardly bothered with reflections this time, I was drawn to old people, benches, staircases. To all the things that are so unique to the place. Like this Parisienne. I can feel the mood of the Jardins de Luxembourg!
Nice to see you again,
sasa

Lovely bokeh and nice contrast...Ain't a 85/1.8 lens the photographer's best friend, don't you think Rinie? You can understand now why Francis and me are advocating for this kind of lens.
Is she the wife of the "vieux con" (hey don't flame me now : there was an old who called himself a "vieux con"..)?
Looking forward that amazing "Picture of a vieux con" in the midst of his rumbling. I bet this will be the next one.

Oh my God! This is what I need dear, and in saying so, I confirm how much I feel, yes "feel" this portrait of an elegant lady, indeed. TAke care.

Hi Rinie, well judging this fine capture, the 85 1.8 is a great lens. I really like how the pictures progresses from OOF into focus and back, and the texture of the OOF area's (I guess you call this bokeh, right, hehehe ;-) looks ever so smooth. And of course the lady is well caught here in her blend of relaxed- and tenseness. Very well captured.
And it's great that you had so much fun in Paris!
Have a nice day,
Bert

Fantastic old lady. She seems to wait for a sun, as it is her day of sunbathing - don't you think ? Lovely colours and skintones. Greetings T.

Hi Rinie, the lens is doing you justice, love the bokeh here. She has her shoes off so maybe thats her contribution to sunbathing. I remember when i was younger gogin to the beach with my grand parents I could never understand why they kept their coats on in their deckchairs when I was so eager to get into my zwempak. This image brought back this memory.

bonjour Rinie
this photograph is involuntarily funny technically it is very successful, clearness, the compo and DOF are good. But I like very much "the decicive moment", even when she sleeps this lady (with all the respect that I owe her) she does not give up her mask a little scorning. It is funny. whereas she is slackened, the coat which hangs, the abandoned shoe... where is the Parisien chic?
