Colors of France Photo

Photographer’s Note

By this image representing a sail of boat with beam, but which makes especially think of the French flag, I will give some explanations on this famous flag and then a little patriotism before the World cup cannot make of evil ;)

The colors of the French flag "combine" different symbols, invented after the fact:

- Blue is the color of Saint Martin, a rich Gallo-Roman officer who ripped his blue coat with his sword to give one half of it to a poor who was begging him in the snow. This is the symbol of care, of the duty that the rich had to help the poor.

- White is the color of the Virgin Mary, to whom the Kingdom of France was consecrated by Louis XIII in the 17th century; it is also the color of Joan of Arc, under whose banner the English were finally driven out of the Kingdom (15th century). It became logically the color of Royalty. The King's vessels carried plain white flags at sea.

- Red is the color of Saint Denis, the saint patron of Paris. The original oriflamme (war banner) of the Kings was the red oriflamme of Saint Denis.

salut philippe, belle image tres tricolore, Cocorico!!! haha! et belle note explicative. je savais simplement que le blanc etait la couleur de la royauté et que le bleu et rouge etaient les couleurs du drapeau de paris, mais pas le detail de st Denis et st Martin.. mais que dire de St Germain? et St philippe du roule? haha!

En vignette cette photo se remarque !
Puis intrigué on va quand même voir.
Pour être graphique, c'est 100% graphique. C'est aussi coloré.
N'empêche bien vu d'avoir photographié cette voile.

C'est vrai que c'est intrigant en vignette ces trois couleurs, Michel a raison.
T'y vas fort avant la coupe de monde, qu'est ce que cela être pendant la compétition ;o)
Une note instructive. Belle évocation à partir d'une voile. Bien vu.

En tout cas les couleurs et textures ressortent bien.
J'aime bien les petits plis et lignes qui le rendent intéressant.

you know philippe, your photo is so simple, but very well done. it's a beautiful image of your flag and i love your photographers note ... i honestly never knew the meaning behind the french flag.

good luck in the world cup too ... it was disappointing to see france bomb out in the first round during the last world cup (i was there!!).

Salut philippe, on croirait que le président chirac va faire une intervention télévisée lol ;)) je laisse qq mots sur ce drapeau français même si c'est pris en indonésie car on va rentrer dans une période de soutien collectif et patriotique avec le début de la coupe du monde ;) Cette photo est donc d'actualité :)
