Photographer’s Note
SCANNED SLIDE
I have not been taking pictures lately so I delved into my savings of old photos dug this one out.
It was suppose to be a short half an hour trip across the river on a motorized boat but mid-river our boat's engine died to my horror, because I don't know how to swim. After about two aginizing hour, which included waiting for a fisherman to go find help and excruciating negotiation process. At last the help arrived in the form of West Bengal state police water patrol. I've never been so happy in my life till that day. We were towed to the next boat jetty and continued our journey.

Hello Pranab,
It should have been quite a journey. Now about this photo it's not bad at all for a scanned slide back from 1994. It'a a nice presentation on theme transportation.
well done.

Compositionally, it's very nice indeed, with nice contrast and at the same time balance of colours - rust on the left, blue on the right, and a good perspective along the hulls of the boats. For an old slide it's a good scanning job, although for once maybe you under-sharpened it! However, there's noise apparent so maybe more sharpening wouldn't have been a good idea.

Andrew

Hello Pranab,
Nice little story... And of course, first thing you did when returning home was to take swimming lessons!
It is also nice to see images from earlier days, as they often are telling stories now forgotten... Nice work on this, good colours but maybe a tad soft but then who cares??
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Pranab!
As you well know travelling in India, you cant always expect to reach on time or even to reach at all!!
you was lucky to be rescued in only a couple of hours!! even the police boat looks quite unsafe!!
good pic and story
wish you the best!

Hi Pranab
TFS your old memories. Nice shot the people looking at you giving life to this shot. I think it was much better with some color correction and to reduce yellow cast with Photoshop etc.

Pranab, very interesting. Amazing how adventures start from what is thought to be an ordinary experience. Nice shot of the member in the story. I'm sure all three guys in this shot bring you right back to the boat.

Hi Pranab.
Believe me, this is one of your best photos on TE. That people and the composition are great.
You captured a very good atmosphere and the colours, with the noise too, are nice.
Thanks for share.
