Photographer’s Note
This local resident of Delfshaven is the artist reponsible for the mural behind her. She quite a well kow local figure, having campaigned some years ago to have a foot tunnel between two street to be cleaned up, arrange for the local business to dump their rubbish elsewhere, and places in hostels for the homeless hat used to used it. She also paid for lights to be installed, the whole thing to be refurbished and then painted this mural.
She was a very animated speaker explaining all this to us.
The 1/80 secs shutter I chose here was a mistake, being too slow to freeze her 'talking' hand, and too fast to leave the movement obvious.

hi richard, indeed a bit pitty for the shutter speed, but an overall portrait is quite interesting: the dutch roots visualized by the bike, the artwoorks seen behind her,
nice work,
have a good day, jerzy

Hi Richard. Thanks for bringing back this moment. It was quite a coincidence that she passed by just at the moment that our guide was starting her story about the tunnel. According to Rinie, this was an added acitivity of the program: “Meet the locals” :-)
Indeed, she was a very animated speaker, making lots of gestures while she was explaining her activities. You did well in capturing one of her many ‘dynamic’ poses.

Very impressive portrait. As it contains perhaps all special atributs of this artist woman - the painting, speaker's expression an the bike. Good note too. Greetings T.

Hi Richard,
A very good recollection to the meeting in Rotterdam, a Dutch Lady with a very nice movement during her recollection at the tunnel, you make a excellent portrait with style.
Best regards,
John

An artist, Richard? I can't see enough of her work to know about that, but she is certainly a wonderful ‘poseur’.

Yes Richard, she was quite the figure, wasn't she. Good pose shown of her with the bike inside the tunnel that she had decorated. Nice handling of the rather contrasting light between in- and outside the corridor. Greetings to you and the other folks meeting in the UK this week.

Hi Richard,
Here it is a pity we can’t add some .wav files to the upload. It should be marvellous if we could have heard some of her explanation.

Don't critique your own shots Richard, your leaving people unimployed here ;o) However i probably wouldn't have noticed your little mistake had you not pointed it out. I think you got her very well framed and kept just the right amount of "story" within the frame, her pose is perfect, it shows exactly how alive and dedicated and funny she was :o)

Pleasant to meet this locale celebrity, a fine portrait enlightened by your excellent note that makes this neighbourhood very human. I like the expression with her hand indicating the pleasure she had in telling her story.
Greetings
