Photographer’s Note

In Sri Lanka, half the time you don’t even have to ask if you can take somebody’s picture, they come up to you and ask you to take it!

This is inside a churchyard in Negombo, which is a town just north of the capital, Colombo. I went inside to take some pics of the church, but a group of kids had just come out of the school next door and were keen to have their photo taken.

They were really pleased when I was able to show them the pictures straight away on the digicam display.

Very good pic here, they all look confused with something, maybe they havent seen a camera before? Sure they have but maybe they dont know they will be taken.

Very good. The only issue is cropping. Of course, due to tight cropping of the leftmost boy's face, cropping at the opposite corner should be tight, too. Greg's WS shows it very well.

Great shot. Very spontaneous and crisp...just like our subjects. Composition is unique (though, IMHO, I would crop it tighter on top).
