Valley of the Gods II Photo

Photographer’s Note

During our trip through the National Parks in the West of the USA, we passed the Valley of the Gods, which was an absolute highlight of the trip, also because of the special light and the shades. The weather was a bit hazy, and when we drove up tho the pass, a thunderstorm was approaching. It gave the valley a superb light, which I have tried to capture. The picture could have been a bit sharper.
Feel free to make a workshop, for instance how to remove the noise, (though I like it in this picture, but I do not know how to do that)

Very dramatic landscape. I can see why it got the name. The lighting and thunderstorm really add to that drama. In the distance the light and darkness seems to be fighting in the sky. I really like how these landscapes have no sense of scale, too. You can't really be certain of the size of anything or how far things are. It's a noisy photo but that adds to the tension in this case, I think. Very nicely done.

You can get rid of the noise with a program like Noise Ninja or Neatimage. Unfortunately I don't have either of them, so I'm not doing a workshop :-( How did you get the noise anyway? It does not look like film grain.

I like the picture... I think it would be more dramatic if you included either more sky or more land in it.

Somehow a bit grainy more like a painting. A fine and well composed landscape in a grand colour setting. Well done Rinie

Neat Image is the way to go. It is free (for jpeg processing) fast and the best program out there. I also did some colour alteration. It may not be to everyones liking. Well captured.

Not as strong as the previous one, but you succseed to make a interesting line between the red area and those small peaks in the rear... I agree that the grain is quite "neat" here ;)

Looks like a landscape from another dimension, Rinie! :-) Great colourful scheme and the slight grain in sky matches so very well with the texture of the soil. Very well done!
