Photographer’s Note
Guanajuato is a UNESCO world heritage site. It’s a university town a little bit north of Mexico City. It is nested in the middle of some very steep hills.
As with every town in Mexico, most of the houses are painted with bright and varied colours. The setting of this town, along with its colours makes it look like the houses are note real, as if they were candys or made out of Lego, each house a Lego brick.
In some streets, it is as if every new house owner looks at the rest of the street and thinks: “Let me see which colour is still missing, so I can choose the colour for my house”.
You can see a previous post in http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo281721.htm
and a panoramic view of the whole town, posted by Fred LION,

This is a scanned image from the negative and I have sturated the colours to give a more real look of this amazing place. I think these pastel colours work better for this image, but I will add another one in WS, with less saturation and more sharpness.
I'm not happy with the overexposed upper part and a blue sky would be much nicer to contrast with all these colours, but I still wanted to show this image.

Hi Ricardo,
Eyecatching colours!
Nice composition, well balanced and with good lines... I agree on the sky, blue would be great!
Greetings,

Olá Ricardo,
A foto tem umas cores fantasticas. A diversidade cria um graphismo muito interessante. A definição não parece ser a melhor e o ceu... mas não deixa de ser um trabalho muito bom,
Um abraço amigo,
Aires

Hi Ric.
I think colour is the key for the success of this photo and you shouldn't wory about the lack of sharpness.
Very graphical and pleasing, looks like a painting.

Fernando

The colours really are stunning; I wonder if they have an overall plan. There is so much colour in the image the lack of a blue sky would have gone unnoticed if you hadn't mentioned it.

Hola Ricardo:
This is real good, I like the rich variety of colors, the stones in the wall and the ivys in the houses make this more rich even. You make a good job. I have some others pictures from Guanajuato and I will upload in the future. I hope you enjoy it.
I wil be out in Morocco for a week, see you soon.

Hola Ricardo.
The problem of the photo is not the sharpness (well, is a problem, but when you scan a photo is a posibility).
The problem is the upper part overexposed.
Anyway, composition and colours are good.
Thanks for share.

They do indeed look like lego houses. This is almost an abstract shot, Ricardo. The composition works.
Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes

Hi Ricardo,
I prefered your altered image 2, indeed you have use PP, but the colours and sharpness are wonderful.
It's very difficult choose between different pictures but my choice is maked.
Thanks a lot.

Hej Ricardo,
Great to see all the colours of the houses here. The angle, looking up at the houses, is well chosen and the photo is well composed too! Thanks for this very colourful picture!

Great image, Ric and very clever title too. These houses, jostling for position and trying to out do each other in the colour stakes are marvellous. Agree blue sky would look nice, but white is the way the sky was when you took the photo, and that's no less valid - it's the way it was.
Good work

Hello Ricardo,
I had never heard of this place before. The colored houses and different levels remind me of Valparaiso where I was last month. It's a pity you had a white sky that day (same thing happened to me too in Valparaiso).

Ola my friend
It looks amazing for its colours and structure of the walls. Great perspective.
I prefer a bit the more sharpened version.

Bonjour mon ami Ricardo,
Bravo !
Amitiés.

You've captured some very vibrant colours here, Ricardo. I do like the workshop that Chris has done - that has overcome a lot of the problem with the over-exposure at the top. Cheers . . . David

Beautiful colrs, Ricardo. I think that Mexico has an its own skill for colors! I remember for example architect Barragan: I never saw his works, but I love his colors and his shapes, impossible to use here!
Ciao, thank you

Hello Ricardo, Very colorful image. I like the layers of buildings you show us this time. You are right, the sky is over exposed. That takes same definition. Thanks for sharing, Gabriel

Hi Ricardo,
If a workshop is needed for this excellent colourful picture it should be something like this.
I used your inspiring picture to search for a picturesque approach. This is an example of it.

Ola Ricardo,
"What color is in a picture, enthusiasm is in life !" Van Gogh
The vivid colors are very attractive as a color lover. You POV that is looking up at the houses makes the composition splendid. As it is scanned image, the sharpnes is OK.When I saw your Mexico photos, I thought that you would also go to Guatemala...
PS: I need your advice , when you insert a link in your note, your link is opened as a new window, how can you do it ?
Have a nice evening,
Zeynep
