Photographer’s Note
Cologne cathedral with its two spires 157 m. in height, has been the city's most famous landmark for centuries and the most well-known architectural monument in Germany.
It took 632 years until construction of the largest German cathedral was completed. After the laying of the foundations in the year 1248 and making rapid progress initially, construction work gradually came to a standstill. It was only with 19th century romantic enthusiasm for the Middle Ages and the commitment of the Prussian Court that construction work resumed in 1842. In 1880, completion of the cathedral was celebrated as a national event.

Hi Hermman,
I made a short delay to take a small pause and now I'm here to make my critique and thanks for your visit to my 200th post and sharing work. Thanks also, for your usual quality great views and captures like that you present us with great quality and perspective. Splendid low angle of view in front of this nice Cathedral. The man passing is also a must. Good light capture, atmosphere with excelent colors, fine sharpness and enquadrement view. Very good work, congratulations and have a nice weekend.
Best to you.

Hi Hermann. I have never seen the cathedral in "live" but each time I see a picture of it, I'm impressed by the architecture. Here you give a good detail of the wall sculptings and the style. The people in the picture (especially the man with the black coat) look so small; they make a very good reference point. I can see that you took this from a low position; which emphasizes the "grandeur" of the cathedral even more. Well done. Have a nice weekend.

Great shot of the incredible artwork and detail on the building. The lighting is good too, from the side and showing everything well, with all details visible in the highlights and shadows. This shows the great 'verticality' of the gothic cathedrals. Great work!

Hi Hermann, Good to use the perspective contrast of the front person in contrast to the background person to see the distance of the front gate to where you were. Good depth and nice details to show the magnificent scale of the cathedral. Well done.

Hi Herman,
I like this POV, the cathedral looks monumental, although we see only the lower part, it creates a feel of magnificance.

Hoi Hermann,
groeten,
John.

Hey Hermann,
a great POV. The background really stuns. All those great lines and shadows and details of the cathedral. What I like is the way you waited for a single figure to come into a prominent position in the frame.

Bonsoir mon ami Hermann,

Hi Hermann
Good repetition of geometric shapes & patterns, in this superb image of the Koln cathedral. Wonderful tight framing & flattened perspective. Good work!

Hi Hermann
Excellent framing and innovative POV here which shows us this well-known building in a new way. The lighting captures well the details of the gothic facade and I like the presence of this somewhat severe looking man striding purposefully across the frame.

A stong graphic image Hermann. The detail on the cathedral is amazing, and the light has helped you to reveal even more detail than would otherwise be the case. The man in the middle of the picture adds a good contrast to this great building. Well done and well composed.
Cheers

Hi Hermann,
A well framed and composed shot that allows one to appreciate the incredibly fine architectural details. The man walking not only warms the scene but gives one a sense of proportions and depth. The cropping accentuates the lower portion of this mighty structure. Very fine work, Hermann. Well done.

Bonjour Hermann,
Best regards.
Daniel.

These are absolutely stunning photographs,Hermann.
From now on the cathedral has the life on it's own.
And the reason I've chosen this and not the other photos,is the presence of that man in black.
What a poise. Is he the man who started it all in 1248?
Artistic approach to tribute the art.
The only right way to do it.
George
