Photographer’s Note
Trek Earth still amazes me sometimes. I shouldn't be surprised to see people photographing the same subjects as me, but when I see such a similar photograph, of an uncommon subject, I'm a little shocked.
This morning I found this photo of umbrellas taken in Luang Prabang, Laos. I stared in disbelief that someone had looked at the same umbrella stand in the same small town, photographed it, and submitted it to the same website group that I am in.
I'd been hanging on to this photo since New Years, because there were other photos that I wanted to post first. But seeing the same photo as mine posted only days ago, I just knew I had to post it now.
**about the photo**
This shot was taken during the night markets at Luang Prabang. Every night, the main street is closed off and small stalls are set up in the streets. There is lots of light everywhere and it makes for some great photography.
This shot is a touch fuzzy because it was taken at night and I didn't have a tripod.

LOL!
Well, Daivd, you are not alone! I also saw a very similar POV posted by one photographer that I took six months before he published it (when I was still abroad...).
The picture concept is nice, the lighting is good (the other picture, btw, lacks the more pronounce exposure) but your picture suffer from hand shake, my friend, as you stated it by yourself. Did you try to push the ISO setting higher and gain a stop or two? what focal length this picture was taken?

Hi David
I missed your this shot before. It brings in memories of the Night Market, where you have taken this shot. Simple yet effective..One good thing according to me you have removed all other elements from the shot sans the umbrellas
Cheers

It's funny what you see on TE sometimes. Last week I spotted a photo of a friend of mine taken by an unknown (to us) TE member at new year on a beach near where I live!
I can see why you both would ake this shot though. The colours are beautiful and it rather lends itself to such a graphic composition.

Super shot David. Graphic heaven. The colors are just out of this world. For the simplicity Id say this is your best.

Hi David, Yes, the parasols make a great see through screen here - lovely light and nice colours. I've seen the other photo too such a coincidence.
Take a peak at this is you have time http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/Myanmar/photo290767.htm

Hehe! Funny coincidence! I like also sometimes to decide my posting based on another picture I've seen on TE the same day.
Imagine that you were together with that other photograph and instead of looking at each other, you looked up! :^) I see that your picture has been taken at a different time, so I guess your paths didn't cross after all...
Yes your picture is a bit fuzzy, but I really like the colors in your picture, the red tones make the whole picture vibrant and full of life.

Wow David, I like this. The umbrellas hanging like this are superbly shown and the lighting and colours are great. Very good find, you and Chris!
Well done, and TFS

Sometimes a bit of blur or softness enhances a photo into a work of art. It has done so here.

Very good photo - you don't notice the lack of sharpness because the colours and composition are so strong, and it helps the mood, anyway. Not all photos have to be technically perfect.
Agree that TE throws up some amazing coincidences - how many times have you posted a shot and when you view the gallery someone has uploaded a similar one next to yours.....and I've written a critique and found someone has made the same comment as I have been writing mine!
Cheers

Cool composition. There are not many new ideas out there only different interpratations.
I once rang a newspaper asking where they had got the photo they published from as it was mine. After a few days of going backwards and forwards, it turned out the surf shot i had taken from in the water with a 50MM had been almost replicated from the beach with a 500mm lens. Only by putting the two images together could you identify 3 miniscule differences.

Hi David, i like when you try some different composition, like the "buddha ....", this is like painting ! It could be in my living room cause it's almost same colors ;)
Congratulations, i really like it :)

What a rich colour of red and orange you have captured. Perhaps the saying, "great minds think alike" might fit quite well the description of this photo, as this is a very good image, and though I havne't seen the 'other' version I am very impressed. On a more critiquing base, it does look like there was a tad bit of movement due to a too long exposure but that has already been mentioned.
Lovely image.
