Photographer’s Note
Most of the tour boats coming downriver from Chongqing to Yichang stop at the small town of Wushan, which is on the junction of the Yangzi River & Little Three Gorges. As I cannot function midwinter without a hot shower & hot coffee at 5 am, I passed on the option to tour the little 3 gorges, & wandered around the town instead. I also stocked up on snacks, tissues, sweets chocolate, & other minor groceries, as the range on the Chinese tour boat was limited.
This is a view from the town. The dam waters will flood 1/2 way up the distant mountain (which has already been cleared) by 2009. The Yangzi River is on the right. "Wu-shan" is Chinese for '5 mountains'. The smoke from the distant fire, which was drifting to the left, has obscured the left hand side of the horizon.

Hi Chris,
Nice panorama shot from a cool view. Looks awesome.
The colors aren't that good and neither is the sharpness. A little color burning in PS with more sharpness.
Cheers. HAdi

Hi Chris,
I need a coffee too right now ;-) But before I wandeer to the machine I'll enjoy this nice view a bit, always attractive due to these hills, there seems to be business going on in the to be flooded area, a good view to keep and compare with the post 2009 one.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Bonjour Chris,
La présence d'être humain donne la dimension des lieux. Paysages grandioses où l'homme fait figure de fourmi.
Note très intéressante accompagnant très bien la photo publiée.
Amitiés.

Hi Chris,
a beautiful overview of a mighty landscape. There is a lot of cyan (in the neutrals I presume) giving it an out of space atmosphere.
Thanks and regards, Gerrit

This looks like a feeling of overall desolation, Chris. The scan isn't very clear, but I do love the sense of atmospheric distance here. The mountains and that little hill with trees are very well placed. Good stuff, Chris!

Astonishing view of this place. Folks in the bottom of the frame give us an idea of the dimensions and the greatness of the scene ! Really amazing. Despite the fire smoke we can appreciate the two valleys joining near the town. Well done !

Not your best scan, but I like the vast view across the wide landscape towards the mountains. Also a good documentary piece in light of the damming that is going to happen within the next years in this area.

Interesting shot of this place, soon to be submerged. This is probably the only view I'll ever get of it. I like the overview, with the view up two valleys at the same time, and also the inclusion of the tiny people in the shot, showing the scale. Great work!

Hi Chris
You got the guts to climd to such extend that it give you the bird view of the overall wu-san and have it captured.
Yeah, the scanned image is having some lost on its color but still maintain the clarity of it.
Well done, Chris.

Chris, Another very interesting scene from the far flung parts of China. Good POV indicating the merging of two rivers. The note is good letting us learn more about China, suring a facinating place, called The Middle Kingdom by the locals for thousands of years. Well seen and shown.

Hello Chris,
This is an extraordinary landscape Chris. The mountain and the accompaning hills look so beautiful. It can be interesting to see the sitıation in 2009.
Good job. Thanks for sharing...

I made a little workshop trying to fix the colors... I just think it's way to blueish...
The way it was taken - the composition - also would suggest the use of sepia, which I think might go quite well as well.

Hi Chris,
Very interesting picture of this place. I've been to the Three Gorges when I was very young and can still remember some of the beautiful places there... Wonder what it'll look like after the flood. Good documentary pic. TFS.

Hi Chris,
A very exciting vantage point for this extraordinary view. I enjoyed the play of colours and tones very much and the little figures allow us to feel the height of this place that you are on. Excellent effort you have put in for this shot. Syabas!! Do have an enjoyable day ahead.
