Photographer’s Note
This beautiful little girl was twirling away in the middle of the Square with this simple pink umbrella.
In China umbrellas are carried almost year round -- in the summer they are used to protect against the sun (currently in China the girls love to have beautiful white skin, to the extent that they buy skin whitening sets advertised on television; this is very much similar to how it was in England many years ago -- the rich have pearly white skin while the workers are brown and weathered... I wonder how long it will be before things turn around as they have here?) and in winter against rain (well, sometimes against rain in the summer too ;).
All of the many photographers on the Square instantly spotted that this was a perfect opportunity and, supervised by the girl's mother, almost five or six people were snapping away. Fortunately for me... I was different and I guess this little girl got curious, for she walked right up close and gave me this stunning look.
Almost no PP here -- sharpening in my RAW tool, a very minor crop and a simple border.
There will probably be one or maybe two more shots in my Tiananmen Square series. Thanks for taking the time to look at them, much appreciated.

Hi Lewis. a very nice portrait... such a darling little girl. It is a good low PoV and I really like the spider web like lines from the umbrella. good job.

Hi Lewis.
Beautiful photograph. Nice detail and colors. The umbrella adds really nice lines. She is adorable :)
Interesting note. In the U.S we have tanning salons where people go to acquire year long tans.

Hi Lewis,
Very interesting portrait. Great sharpness & focus. The usage of umbrella by the girl has a little bit of studio like effect... help balances the overall lighting in this pic. Good exposure settings, too.

Hi Lewis, I'm with Narayan all the way here: you have escaped from the trap of "just cute kidie portraits" through an artfully low POV and that wonderful umbrella above.
Well done indeed,
Francis

Hi Lewis
J'adore ce manque d'espace avec ce parapluie qui remplit tout l'arrière....c'est superbe.
Un joli regard et un cadrage au top.
Les teitnes douces vont merveilleusement bien avec cette petite fille.
