Photographer’s Note
I was in Italy for a very short holiday. Unfortunately, it was rainy, but the light was beautiful though. It gave the colons of the building by the Saint Peter's a silver glow.
This photo was taken at the same time and place as the photo, I posted yesterday, it is only two steps more to the right on the Saint Peter's square.
I changed the lines of the perspective, I increased the saturation, used the auto contrast, level and colour function, cropped the photo by the top and gave it a frame. The photo is not sharpened.
Did I boost up the contrasts too much? I tried an alternative and posted it as a Worskhop.

Hallo Stef,
Uitstekende POV.

Hi Stef. Well at least it seems dry in here. The columns do seem nice and straight. I see you didn't sharpen it. I might have run it through noise removal then sharpened it. Nice catch Stef.

Hi Stef,
Strong contrast between the people and the huge columns.Indeed a beautiful and soft light here,it makes the heavy columns almost look transparent.
Greetings,

I think the contrast is about right.
From the thumbnail I thought this was some kind of water fountain. I love the perspective and the texture on the columns.
Funny to see some people still have their umbrellas up despite being under cover.

Dag Stef,
groeten,
Luc.

Hi Stef,
A well composed shot that truly captures the beauty and proportions of these magnificent columns. The POV is well chosen, as one can see the slight curve of the walkway, while the hanging lamp balances and enhances. The people in the scene warmify the photo. Very well seen and captured. Great lighting.

The light IS really strong here. I love it - it's as though the pillars are lit-up or something.. Really well conceived photo! Regards, Doug

Hi Stef,
Beautiful shot. I enjoyed both versions -- original and workshop. I think that there are merits to both. The two aspects you captured so well here are the light and the colums blending together. If I had to pick one, I would go with the one with less contrast. In that one, you lose some of the special light, but you gain a great effect with greater blurring of the columns. Thanks for posting!

I agree with Jose, Stef - there are merits to both shots and I also personally prefer the one with the boosted contrast as it does enhance that lovely light. However, you have lost a little detail in the colums in the main post, so maybe a touch of extra sharpening in PP would have worked to compensate for that. Cheers . . . David
