Photographer’s Note

In the extremely narrow streets of the Mumbai slums. I came to this place a little bit accidentaly, looking for a retreat from Colaba and all the touristic stuff, and wanting to see how the people live here.
When I entered this area, two young, well built guys came to me. They wanted to know what do I do here. I explained them my motivations, luckily they seemed satisfied with it.
Walking around was strange experience, at first I felt a little bit out of place here. Attitude of the people was mixed - from slight irritation through indifference to warm welcome. When I was about to leave, I've met some local boy (not the one visible on the picture) who invited me to his house, and then I spent few hours with him, his family and friends. That was very rewarding experience.

The "Looking back" of this boy is nice. Narrow streets are something a very popular subject for photographers, and I like them so. A good composition.

Good story to go with your image - thanks for sharing. I've heard reports similar to yours of the lukewarm reception that is likely... variety - the spice of life I suppose. The skinny boy accentuates the narrow feel of the passage way.

Beautiful point of view on this street scene. The light and the colours (orange, green and blue) are beautiful. You had a good idea to go and visit this kind of non-touristic place. Well done

jestes chyba drugim polskim globetroterrem po Macku. Widze podobny styl. Tak samo jak Maciek potrafisz bardzo dobrze pokazac nam ludzkie zycie, nawet te banalne momenty wychodza wam wspaniale.

Hi antoni... I wanted to do somesort same experience, but I was always reluctant... I am always a bit disturbed to get in with my Indian look thinking that they might 'reject' me... further I talk Hindi or any of the northern languages so... a small handicap... Bala

p.s. I will get back to u on the BW conversion when I have some more time... no big secret though... pretty straight forward :-))
