Photographer’s Note

Of course we did and what can I say,-It was big fun!
Original taken on 400 ASA slide film, converted

Hi Hermann,
First of all my votes of a Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your family. A nice B&W scanned night image of Paris with these all cars in motion near the known "Arch". Good point of view and the light motion effect is surprising and also funny. A difficult shot that you take nicely. Good handling of light, well seen, composed and a nice detailed picture.
Congratulations and sureally a Better 2006 Year.

For some reason colour tone seems to fit perfectly to this picture. And strong contrast make interesting posterization effect. Weird but good feeling here.

Interesting shot from Paris in 96, the blurred speeding cars, still the tower in sharpness. Grains typical of the 400 asa - interesting presentation h.

Guten Tag Hermann
I think I will catch the Metro if I am ever in these parts. The b&w / navy blue sepia rendition, works well here. Good contrast & sharpness. Tfs!

Happy New Year, Hermann! I wish you and your family a great 2006.
I like the green tonme you used foor this hsot, Hermann, there's a nice feel to it this way, better than plain B&W. I love the rerflection because of the wet road, and the blur on the cars. It looks slippery this way.

Happy New Year Hermann.
Nice shot! It looks like it could be the 60's with Citroen Ds's driving down the Champs Elysee. The greenish tint somehow enhances that feeling.
Nice work!
Cheers,
Francis

Love it. I think you took the same approach as me today. High contrast to give a raw urban feel. But you went much farther than me with the contrast. I think the feel of the shot is stark, totally devoid of romanticism...something we dont see with shots from the Champs Elysee

Bonjour Hermann,

Groeten,
John.

Hallo Hermann,
a great classic shot from Paris! The blur of the cars in the forground is great. I like the deepness in the center. Great composition and POV.

Frohes neues Jahr, Hermann. A nice oldie from Paris, in which I like the perspective effect, the striking "on-the-road" POV and the sense of motion, quite well amplified by the grainy b&w.

Hi Hermann, Happy 2006. A nice daring shot. You have well shown the chaotic traffic situation at this famous place. It looks challenge and fun. An enjoyable picture.

Interesting image Hermann with all the blurred lights; you must have taken it out of the back window of the car? (I hope you weren't turning round while driving :) !! ) I think your choice to convert to B&W along with the grain works well to add to the chaotic atmosphere.

Great view that really put the viewer in the action. The rows of lights, both cars and street lights, all convervging on the Arc d'Triumf give this a very strong centralizing theme, and makes this a strong photo. Well done!

Hi Hermann,
A dynamic shot of this famous scene. The conversion works well here in B&W format. Good sharpness and great POV that captures the symmetry of lights on either side and the gleam on the road pavement. Well done. All the best for 2006, Hermann.

I have the souvenir of the same difficulty to drive in paris at this end of the year time, but also to catch this event like you have done here.
Artistic BW with contrasts for "les chazmps élysées", this goes well.
A good one

Hi Hermann,
Nice photo. I like the dark black and white tones, the give the photo a special atmosphere. The photo is almost totally symmetric. Nice work!

Hi Hermann,
What a nice way to start the New Year in this dynamic way. It has a very strong feel of speed and perspective. Due to the motion blur and the grain it really conveys the feeling of movement. Great job!
Ein frohes Neues Jahr, Hermann!

Hi Hermann. Nice to see that you admired the same thing as I did when I was in Paris. It really looks good with the toning you applied. And indeed, you shouldn't go to Paris by car. A bit late, but best wishes for 2006 to you too!
