The answer is Salt.
The Laguna Verde and the Licancabur Volcano in Bolivia :
There is so little water in this region that the sediments and metals drained from the mountain stop in salt lakes and never make their way to the sea. The result is thoses moon-like landscapes (see also "Fayeulle" comments and pictures).
The Licancabur is a former Inca sacred mountain (there is a kind of little temple for sacrifices on the top (almost 6000 meters !).
The lake on top of the volcano is also the "highest ecosystem in the world" according to NASA (type "licancabur nasa" on google for more information).

Voici une excellente note. Tu vois que quand on veux, on peux. Merci de me siter dans ta note,j'en suis flatté. Bien évidemment j'ai des photos de cette Lagune aux couleurs incroyable. Ce que j'aime dans ton cliché c'est la manière doit tu as su montrer la fracturation des plaques de sel par une prise de vue surbaissée. En revanche, mais il faut évidemment faire un choix, une vue plus en hauteur montre bien la couleur de la lagune rendue verte "lagoon" par le vent et le soleil. Il était environ quelle heure ?
