Photographer’s Note
Ooijpolder
Human-made nature is the description for the wet, green
land in the east of Nijmegen on the banks of the river waal(rhine).For centuries people
fight against the water. Dikes were build that were
destroyed again by the river. The course of rivers were changed, and villages removed on higher grounds.
Small lakes were the results of breaking dikes and
the winning of clay. Today it’s a protected area with
a versatile nature.

hihermann, this is a splendid, stright to the point told story about that dutch challange, excellent text in the note;
as for the image itself -a delightful presentation of the river and how it is fitted with man-made constructions;
very good work;

Hi Hermann
Wonderful sunset colors of magenta, with superb reflections. I like the color contrast between the yellow highrise in the bg & the blue/grey clouds in the sky.

Bonjour Hermann,
Quand la nature est près des villes, il faut effectivement la protéger.
Très belle image où ciel et eau se confondent dans un camaïeu de rose/gris.
Une sensation de paix émane de cette prise de vue.
Amitiés.

Hermann, nice darkness. I like the pov with the other scene at the background. The differences between the two scenes were great to the interpretation of this picture.

Hoi Hermann,
De weerspiegeling in het water zijn buitengewoon door de verschillende kleuren aan het horizont, de opeenvolging van donker met mooi gekleurde delen maakt de afwissling zo aangenaam om te kijken. Mooi werk Hermann.
Een streek met een roemrucht verleden!
Groeten,
John.

Hi Hermann, I like the composition and the beautiful colors you have captured in this picture. Good contrast of the sky and its reflections to the silhouette view of the ground. Nice capture of the golden lights among all of the other lights, a good highlight of the city.

A beautiful photo at twilight, Hermann, the mood you get with the lights and tones is great. The polder makes a good foreground in the way in which it leads the eye into the scene, and reflects the reddish and blueish colors. The urban silhouettes make a surprisingly pretty background.

Hej Hermann,
A very nice composition of nature and urban life. The lights of the city give a great contrast with the soft natural colours that are reflected in the lake. Very well captured!

Hi Hermann,
Beautiful sunset of the well know Ooijpolders and one of the oldest cities in Holland. The eveningsky is reflecting on the river Waal.

Even better than the one two days ago. This is stunning; the water looks so silky and the colours are wonderful. The skyline of the city adds to this excellent composition

Hi Hermann,
What an interesting portrayal of this city from the river. At first blush I thought some of the foreground should be cropped, but on second glance its clear that you have captured great symmetry here and design of the river channel. The glow on the water and the lights of the city enhance. A peaceful, well composed scene that enthralls the heart.

Hi Hermann - I really like the feel of this image the foreground against the night-time lights of the city - a wonderful pink light but above all the atmosphere of being outside the city in a place like this and looking in is beautifully evoked by this image.
best wishes Kev

Very pretty scene, Hermann. The water to me is very engaging with this subtle tones and reflections. The city skyline is very well placed, too. I love the clarity of the whole.

Hi Hermann,
Nice dusk view here, I like here how the city is close to the nature (or vice versa), the shooting time is excellent to display a beautiful array of soft colors and create an atmosphere thanks to them.
Have a nice sunday,

Gutenabend Hermann, this is indeed a very special kind of landscape and you made really the best of it capturing it under these wonderful light conditions. The orange-purplish hue of the water is fascinating. Composotionally I like it a lot how the water meanders our eyes to illuminated Nijmegen. Great catch,
Have a nice week,

I find it kind of a pity that there is so much human intervention on the background (although the polders are also human-made) but for the picture it is a nice contrast. Your landscapes are really very nice. I love the colours and the compo.

Hello Hermann !
Nice scene captured in Netherlands. What I most like here is the purple pallet of the water perfectly combining with the almost same color of the sky. And of course, the building full of lights is well positioned in the picture, surrounded by the myriad night lights.
Another very good shot of yours.
Take care !

Hermann, this picture has a wonderful pink glow both from the sky and the reflection. The well lit building stands out from the darkness of the rest of the scene as if it is a ship at sea.

Des abords de ville et de civilisation particuliers, mystérieux et intrigants.
Un cadrage et un pov tout à fait bien choisis.
Bien à toi.
