Photographer’s Note
Back to Brazil again. At my last upload Isabel said that I could go from one subject to another with enormous elegance, (Thank you, Isabel), but it's just that I don't think I have a real style, and sometimes want to break out of a series.
So, that's why: Back to Brazil, and specifically back to the Sala São Paulo, where we had just bought tickets for the visit.
I took this because I was attracted to a few things, the guard, the door, the man looking at me, obviously a tourist like us, and the poster on the right of the picture: Bach's Christmas Oratorio (Oratorio de Natal), which is a beautiful piece of music, and full of swing, and I am so privileged to have sung that once.
(I think I need Dominique for the barrel distortion)

Hi Rinie!
title? Who needs one when looking at such a well balanced and engaging photograph? Combined with your ample explanatory note it tells me all I need to know. Good work!

Hello Rinie! Welcome back, you've been away for a while!
A great shot to return with... interesting, there is something reminding me of Mediaeval art in this shot, first of all, the representation of minute details with your excellent dof, but more so the quizzical expressions of the people facing you, coming towards you, as if to ask or announce anything.... perhaps the "Natal"?...
So you have sung it? I LOVE that Bach piece, always play it around Christmas. Bereite dich, Zion.. beautiful!...might just go and put it on...
Ciao and thank you Rinie!

PS Sorry out of greenies, but...

Yes, you present us a strange atmosphere here Rinie... First I was shocked because the security man wear (and belongs) to a spanish security company (prosegur) so I´ve felt like at home. Secong I get used to the naturality of the scene and I think it´s there were the valuable part of this photo is. Do you have an style? Almost you have a good eyes to click in the right moment to represent a moving scene: Get the essences.
Yes, we talked about the 12 of june up the Machu-Pichu, let´s see what the future brings. Besos mil from Madrid.

"Hall for Prayer"?
Sharp, sharper, sharpest... You are becoming sooooo handy with your camera, or you have a "steel" hand.
I'll come back with more reflexions on your picture later... Ik val om van de slaap en het is nog niet eens 12 uur! Meestal houd ik het tot één met het grootste gemak. :o) - Amitiés - Viviane

Hi Rinie,
No necessary title but for my vision two persons are directly looking to you and the guard is near by and is suspect because he is seeing you by any mirror at the left side of the frame and at the right by himself ;-)))
So, The title would be "Why are looking for me" or I'm the first to show my ticket to the concert ?" or a third "Only me!!!". Thanks a lot for your observation and great quality indoor night shot. Is one of your greatest by the spontaneious feeling of the persons and surrounding atmosphere.
Very very well captured and your fine humour. 10 divinding by two means 5 nice smileys, but only one for now.
Congratulations and have a nice week.

This is a wonderful image Rinie - it's so full of detail and the relationships towards you in the space works really well too. I think there is something in what Sarolta says it reminds me of both classical and modern paintings - I just realy enjoy this composition!
ps I haven't forgotten Rinie - hopefully I'll get it printed this week!!! Sorry to keep you waiting.
best wishes Kev

Hi,
I've been checking on your pictures from Brazil before my coming to TE and it seem's that this one is quite special. It's realy sharp and well balanced. But what impres it's the simplicity of the scene. The framing it's perfect with the inclusion of the two posters. Well done!

How about "Christmas in summer"?
Yes, I know, it'll require a bit of explanation in the note, but that'd be the kind of puzzling title I'd be able to come up with...
Besides the various body and glance languages, I really love the subtle play between blueish, yellowish and greenish hues in your composition, Rinie. A radical contrast to the black and orange harmony inside the theater itself, but you did notice it by yourself before, obviously.
The only thing I really miss, thought, considering the geometrical intricate play, is some lens distorsion correction. But I guess I'm certainly way too influenced by my own type of perception to see otherwise... ;-)

He's probably Korean, this tourist.
I like the weight distribution, 3 people all to the side, and empty space on the right. Not balanced but feels so right. The mood is so strange. Why are they string at you? Not only the man but also the woman in the door while the guard looks like he is sleeping on his feet.

I am with Dominique for the title Rinie :) even considering we were in June :D
great pastel tones here really superb. the guard is low profile kind of "let me try to ignore that HUGE cam aiming towards me and be professional ;)
beautiful picture. I am surprised with your choices though!
(I have a picture with this guy on it and guards around (the bikers, remember?) but it´s too grainy and tilted for my taste even to upload as a ws).
stay well, querida.

nice tones and very good equilibrium in the composition Rinie. The stances of the tourist and guard are quite good and make the picture intersting. Ther is however a blue cast, at least from the monitor i work on right now.

Hi Rinie,
Yes for the elegance and this one of the man here is great...
A good down to up in this portrait of a typical "visitor".
Well done with the inside light.
I like it

Morning Rinie, Hope your knee is on the mend. Intersting how the tourist looks towards you as to ask you something, (maybe te title of the shot) the young girl behind seems to be pearing over his shoulder and the guard shows absolutley no interst at all, casually posed against the door.
The onky thing that botheres me here is the crooked electic plug in the bottom right, I always have to urge to straighten crooked hangings.

Well, how abuot 'Oratorio de Natal', especially since its on a poster on the wall. Beautiful arrangement, and such perfect tech, must be quite a high ISO setting, yet a very smooth image. I think the D70 handles these settings a bit better than the 20D.

Yo Rinie, a capture with lotsa atmosphere and nicely disjointed interaction, virtually expanding the group displayed here deliciously. The light is beautiful and the expression of the Asian gentleman priceless.
Hehe and considering the style issue> well you have it, no need to define it and narrow it down :-)
Have a nice weekend!

Hi Rinie.
There's something strange here. But I like it very much.
Perhaps the reason is how all the people is in the picture: one of them is watching to us, another (the second one) watching to out of the photo. And behind still there is a third person, a woman who also looks to us.
And all of them are in the left half of the picture. The other one is empty.
Anyway, the picture works very well and still is fascinanting for me.
Regards.

A very beautiful shot, regardles of title - perfectly composed with a nice blusih light falling across the frame. I like the triangleformed by the 3 subjects.
One suggestion: "Three into two won't go"
Cheers,
