Photographer’s Note
Hi everyone!
This was taken in the same market as my last two posts.
Although I'm not a vegetarian myself, I'm trying to understand why is it that we have become so indifferent to others suffering, human or not.
Here are two quotes which I really like:
"The animals of this world are not here for human purposes any more than women are here for men, or blacks for whites."
Alice Walker (civil rights activist and feminist novelist )
"Compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to humankind. .. Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.. Humankind has a long journey toward this goal.."

Thanks for all your comments and critiques.
Have great weekend!
Skye
PS: I just added a workshop version which I personally like better for this photo. I think a more faded and colorless look suites it better. I didn't like the BW version as much. Let me know which one you like better and why. cheers..

Hi Skye,
Another impressive photo, along with a very interesting note. The angle of the shot is very good and the sellers (are they?) looking away reinforced the issue in your note. Again, good work! Thank you,
All the best,
Ricardo

Good shot, Skye. I'm not a vegetarian either, but it's sad to see the animals confined that way. Probably the sellers have no choice in Laos, they have no truck to carry large pens. I like the POV, and I think this image is better than the WS. But I do like the lighter tones in the shaded parts of the image in the WS, maybe you could get more of that here. Still, this is great storytelling and a fine shot all around. Regards, Ken.

hey skye, i really like what you're saying with this photo. your point is reinforced by the uninterested look on the womens' faces. I prefer your workshop version, more oldskool and engaging. Did you try cropping more off the right of the picture? there isn't anything much interesting there...maybe you need it for balance. sorry i don't have time to do a workshop. hope you had a good weekend. skye x

Hi Skye
Back with another impressive shot. Animals, yeah, they do kave live, too. But they are destined the way they are!
Question. Do these native peoples selling the whole live pigs in the market the way you captured it?
Oh my god, if it is the way. They are not chicken or duck, which are in a smaller size, but PIGs, they are so huge, man.

Hello Skye. This is another great picture of the market and I like the low perspective. It's a fascinating capture to show us how things are different in other parts of the world. It's a great pic for TE.

Very insightful note Skye. I also like the double meaning behind the title. Brilliant! Great POV. TFS! :)

hi, i like pig, i even touch them in my hometown. your shot make me miss my hometown. where also has such a market like this, but not so good, but beside a crossing.
the flash "MEATRIX" is so nice, i get more fun!
I think your color version is better than WS, but not very big diffrence.
i also do a WS for you, just for improving my skill in WS. this is my second WS for TE member.
good day!

hi Skye, firstly, compliments and thanks again for bringing us so much closer to Asia countries by bringing so many superb journalistic shots. i am indeed disturbed by this shot, and your quotes hit the right key. although pigs are reared for food, doesnt mean there is no better way to treat them....in most local cultures in my country too, pigs are treated equally as bad, and it is sad, because we humans became too egoistic and proud...
having said that, sad but true, we can't also manipulate or change one's culture that's not our own. i hope things will get better.
thanks again, Skye.(maybe i should consider turning into a vegetarian:)
