Zillergrund Staumauer Photo

Photographer’s Note

As many valleys in the Zillertal, the Zillergrund (grund = valley in the Zillertaler Alps) ends with an impressive concrete wall, 180 meters high retaining the water of the surrounding glaciers.
It is located at 1800 meters altitude and only reachable by feet or bus, the individual cars have to park at 1400 meters and go the rest by foot (or bus of course).
On the other side of the dam, you will find a nice lake surrounded by many alpine peaks and the nice Plauener Hütte that I visit that day.
Above (really just above!) the dam, a restaurant was erected two years ago, called “Adlerblick” where I try to catch the whole dam.

very interesting and innovative composition - with this dam "squeezed" into the picture, those elements on the first stage - good use of wide angle.

Une prise de vue avec un angle un peu étrange mais qui met bien en évidence la profondeur. C'est bien sur l'éffet du 17 !

Bonjour Didier,
tu rend fou un fanatique de barrage là.
Il est impressionnant celui-ci.
Moi qui suis sujet au vertige, je l'ai presque rien qu'au regard de cette photo, tellement le POV donne cete impression d'altitude
N'aurais-tu pas pu prendre la photo un peu plus avancé, pour éviter un peu ces barrières çà l'avant plan ?
J'aime beaucoup en tous cas.

Incroyable cette vue....je trouve que ton pdv est très original et parfaitement trouvé !

Excellent work with the perspective here. Amazing angle. People on the dam really add scale to this huge wall. Good natural colors here, perfect sharpness. Very interesting place along with Your concrete note.

Impressionnante image ! La différence de niveau entre la plan d'eau et la verdure tout en bas est vraiment incroyable !
On comprend mieux avec cette image l'importance de la courbure du barrage pour pouvoir contrebalancer la force de la colonne d'eau !
Très belle composition avec ce 17mm (le capteur peut y arriver... ;-))

Ce que une grande profondeur du barrage, la perspective très jolie au sujet du lac, les gens sur le barrage sont si petits, je dois regarder bien pour voir les, cette photo très bien prise.

A well composed and interesting shot. I like the various lines for the eye to follow here. Your POV is superb, as is the DOF. All is seen with great clarity. Indeed an impressive wide angle result. Great shot.

ce n'est pas le barrage de la Gileppe mais il est impressionnant celui ci ... le grand angle le rend plus imposant. un bon cadrage qui donne une idee sur le POV, et une bonne DOF.
la rembarde de securite amene une diagonale interessante qui dynamise l'image ... et la cerise ... ces promeneurs sur le barrage qui nous rappellent que nous sommes bien peu de choses !!
