Photographer’s Note
Taipei, night market around Longshan Temple area, this small kid shows his mummy what he thinks about the stuff on the display... but I am not sure what he means.
Original shot.
----------
to Darren - No flash, just natural light, higher ISO100, f3.5, 1/50s. Walking around markets at night I don't use flash, I just increase ISO, some grain looks more natural than flash light.

Brilliant! Great light and the off-set composition is perfect. I like the way the frame compliments the table, and the boy's expression is priceless. The only thing I can think of would be to reduce the flare from the lamp, but I'm not even sure it matters too much!

National geographic quality! Agree with Whereami. In single photo beautyfull i can realize that their cuisine is quite different than canadian cuisine and i say Yucky (it is not for me)

Great shot, nice saturation, good interplay b/w the lit and unlit parts of the photo, and nice touch snapping the shutter as the kid is putting his finger to his mouth.
And to put my vote in: Yummy

I vote for yummy (I mean, for myself, not for the kid). What a precious picture! Very difficult to shoot but you did it. Your camera is absolutely fantastic too.

If I were still a kid growing up in Chinese environs, I wouldn't know if it's yucky or yummy. The merchandise isn't even cooked, and I'd bet, doesn't even have a smell. The lighting is very nice, btw.

Interesting photo. For the first look the squids look too huge and too scary. If you linger your eyes longer, they do look delicious. They looked barbequed or grilled. Did you try one yourself?

Very good and effective framing. The colours and the shadows added to the overall appeal of the picture. Very very well-seen.

Great shot Maciej. The contrast, the colors, everything...Not to say that I am crazy about calamars...

This is just excellent Maciej. Although I may or may not have seen this exact stand, the vision here is very common for me. You have caught a great expression, your colors are excellent, and you have really filled the frame effectively. you must have used flash to get it this sharp, but nothing about this picture shows this, there are no realy hot spots or such. Very nice.

I like your use of natural light in this composition. The childrens' facial expressions are priceless! I don't know what they're thinking, either, but you could also add this photo to the humorous category.

I always say yummy for squids...
they almost look like baked breads or pastries.
Very good lighting all around except maybe on the ladies' arm, love the green/red contrast and the way you managed -only with compo- to close the pic with darker areas.

Smoked calamari...quite a delicacy in the East. Just browsing your gallery Maciej, to see your interest in Eastern world. You should try this smoked calamari. Sprinkle salt and lime and then cook them over a fire. When it is "well done" dash it with a little honey. You did great in getting the slices and pattern of the calamaries.
