Photographer’s Note
The Urubamba River is a wild river flowing through some inhabited ares of Peru like Aquas Calientes bellow Machu Picchu at this picture or side by side with portion of the railway between Cuzco and Aquas Calientes. A stream flowing through some very beautiful landscape. A dangerous stream during the rainy season (on picture) which flows in a deep gorge. However many people build there houses on the verge of the gorge without any safety measures agains the erosion caused by the wilde and beautiful river. So the Urubamba might affect thousands of people living in its reach.

Hi Michael,
What a difference from the Urubamba that I saw in the dry season. Back then it was very calm compared to this and huge rocks could be seen. I have noticed a few on this shot but nothing compared to my visit in 1994.

Paul

Wow Michael,
I've been to Aguas Calientes twice, but never during the rainy season... this is almost frightening.
I like the contrast between the coloured houses and the brown water.

Hello Michael,
Very impressive shot. The composition is wonderful and the colors suberb. Looks very frightening with the houses so close to the river. You wonder if they are still there taking into account that you took your picture three years ago and the weather become more and more extreme.

Hi Michael,
What an awsome picture of Agua Cliente! Did you go thru the train tunnel in order to get to Machu Pichu? Thank you for sharing.
