Photographer’s Note
First built in 1542, this landmark building in the heart of Kaunas' ancient city has had a number of usages as time went.
It first housed shops and meeting halls, also a prison, later was revamped into an orthodox church, then a munitions storage area, a classy hotel, several clubs, a theater.
In 1973 it was handed back to the municipality of Kaunas and is now used for large gatherings or celebrations.

Jean Yves, excellent shot, very interesting frontal view and the architecture is very nice.
Nice colors, but i think that needs more clarity, but is very nice shot.

Quel architecture!
Bref, j'aime..

Interesting building, it was not a church at first? Good shot with fine light and colours, thanks for sharing!

Good straightforward presentation of this fine old building, JY. Very nice to see this elaborately architectured edifice rise above the other buildings in the back. Good to have some pedestrians included for scale and a lively element.

Hey Jean-Yves. It's impressive one building could have so many uses. It's good with the sky and the gradient of blue. That is incredibly tall, isn’t' it? For such a bright building the highlights are full of detail. Good job Jean-Yves!

Hi Jean,
You have capitalized on the shadows to bring out the shapes of this fine building and you have succeeded well as white is usually difficult to handle. Keeping part of the foliage on both sides helped to hold and balanced the building. Great shot!! All the best.

Hi Jean Yves
I like the graphism of the white tower, against the darker blue sky. Superb color & sharpness. C'est tres bon!

What a wide range of uses, Church and prison:) You cant get any different than that. I like the softness of the details here, not perfectkly sharp but then again not out of focus at all.

Hi Jean Yves, A well composed picture. From the time you took this picture, this is a scanned picture from analog. You have done a nice job to get a good quality out from the scanned picture. A well taken picture with clarity and sharpness.

Well, from your huge library it was interesting for me to see your shots of Lithuania. This neo-classicism building is more known as "Town Hall" or "The Swan". I think the latter is self-explanatory. Your nice shot reveals its grace and purity against clear sky, only it is slightly out of focus. Old Lada cars - relicts from Soviet era - are visible as well. I think Moskwitch and Volga are parked in the background. Now they have vanished from the streets completely. Cheers - Vilius
