Puji Temple - Costume Hire Photo

Photographer’s Note

Tourists (both Chinese domestic, & foreign), have the option to hire Chinese Emperor / Empress clothing, for photos on the background bridge. A bit tacky for my personal taste, but some people just love that sort of dressing up. Taken in midwinter at the Puji Temple. Part of the lake had frozen over. (-5c, overnight)

Nice composition Chris. I like the contrast between the modern bank in front and the old bridge in the background. Good depth here. Nice framing through the tree. Well done!

Interesting note added to a talkative shot.
I find this amazing. But it reminds me of paintings with a hole to place the head and then take a shot.
This is the same business !!

Just like in Paris, "sur les berges de la seine", but with a chinese river and a chinese seller.

Hi Chris. Interesting entry from Putuoshan Island, a location for which so far you are the one providing exclusive coverage on TE. Interesting business model, offering the colorful costumes for hire and even selling the throwaway cameras alongside. Nice scene.

Interesting subject to shoot. It certainly makes a good composition. Personally, I find the photo a bit too busy, in a sense that it's hard to concentrate on one thing.

What an interesting shot! The portrait format is ideal for this scene, as the eye takes in the colourful foreground of touristy stuff and then the rich background. I like how you have framed the shot with the tree enveloping as a canopy. Well captured!

Hi Chris. I love the contrast between the tacky salesman and the beautiful background. This is a very compelling shot. Naturally the reflections and soft light are both great adds. Also all of the textual details and sharpness in the bark is fantastic. Well done Chris.
