A few notes would be very welcome!
Too bad no workshops allowed. I really liked this image, but found it very dark. I copied the photograph, and selected the inverse of the womans shirt. Then I bumped up the contrast and brighness of the image, and it worked quite well.
With a little post processing, this could be a very good photograph.

Your tight compo and limited DOF is very very good IMO.
It's true there's a is either a contrast or density issue, but I fear this is mostly due to a "not up to your photo skills" scanner that also impacts on postprocessing rendering.
