Photographer’s Note

Here is another view from the lovely small city "Tossa de Mar" on the spanish costa brava.

On my previous post I had presented a bay view as seen from the overlooking castle, now here is a view from the castle as seen from the city beach.

The walls and castle date from the 12th century, but a roman site has existed on this site as early as the 1st century. Tossa now mainly relies on tourism for its wealth, the city hosts plenty of restaurants, bars ans shops. It looks a bit empty on this photo, I have been shooting here in the early evening, while everybody was already sitting in the bars enjoying drinks and tapas.

Le mythe, j’allais souvent là-bas avec mes parents que j’étais gamin ( mes premières vacances à la mer).
Une bien belle image Jean-Yves, qui me rappelle beaucoup de souvenir !
Ça fait tout drôle de revoir ça !

bonjour jean-yves, looks really fantastic - i like the way the "ordinary" white houses contrast with the stony walls and castle identical in colour of the sand; looks like this piece of beach was pretty abandoned, were thet firing the cannons from the castle? :-))

Une très belle vue sur ce chateau ! Avec une belle lumière.

J'aime beaucoup la juxtaposition de cet ancien chateau et des boutiques modernes... La ville a grignoté tout ce qu'elle pouvait, mais c'est agréable de voir que le chateau fort résiste.

I like the POV you have chosen here and the wide format frame as it emphasises the shape and compactness of the city. Nice shot!

Hi Jean,
A very nice view of the castle. Including a bit of the path is a nice entry point to the scene as our eyes move to the right and then left to the castle. The shadow in the foreground makes the sandy beach more interesting to look at. I also love the overall pleasing sand colour. Well done!! Regards.

Well composed photo. I like the large area of beach in foreground, the strip of sea in the left and the tree in the upper right corner. All these elements make a good frame for the nice castle. Well done.

Salut Jean-Yves.
Ca à l'air sympa ce petit coin, je connais pas.
En tous cas le POV est tip-top, ca nous laisse voir la mer, le chateau avec les remparts, puis les maisons.
Belle capture de la lumière et jolies teintes.
J'aime bien aussi ces ombres qui viennent remplir cette plage (d'ailleurs, ca me semble bien vide....pas encore la sasion ou alors ils sont à l'apéro?)

This castle looks so small. Must be an illusion. I wonder why its so empty there, when did you shoot this? That must be a wonderful beach. Suntanning under a castle, thats something Ive never done. As others have commented, the POV takes in all of the castle and is just right.

jolie vue. j'aurais peut être decalé sur la droite, pour inclure un peu plus le bord de plage, quoique ce petit morceau de mer fait son effet ...
joli rendu des couleurs, malgré la lumiere un peu forte et ta position à l'ombre.

Nice mediterranean scenery, Jean-Yves. Well depicted in the panoramic format, and in addition to the well-illuminated architectural elements I particularly like the shadow silhouettes on the sand - a good way of filling this blank area of the frame. Good capture.

bonne idée d'avoir attendu que tout le monde aille se goinfrer de tapas avant de venir shooter, la vue est plus belle ainsi qu'avec des centaines d'écrevisses au soleil.
Ce vieux château est magnifique et contraste bien avec le reste de la ville.
Belle lumière du soir...

Je me souviens parfaitement de cet endroit ou nous nous sommes arretés pour un tour. Mais mes photos sont loin d'être aussi bonnes. Je ne souviens plus si le temps était ensoleillé, tandis que cette image rend très bien l'atmosphère de l'endroit.
