Photographer’s Note

Not even big enough on most maps of Europe to contain the letters of its name, Lilliputian Luxembourg makes up in snazz what it lacks in size. It has a wealth of verdant landscapes crisscrossed by rivers and dotted with the sort of rural hamlets that most people associate with fairy tales.

Its charms are myriad and its people are justifiably proud of their heritage. The nation's motto is inscribed everywhere throughout Luxembourg City, the capital - Mir wëlle bleiwe wat mir sin - 'We want to remain what we are'. After a visit, you're sure to hope they do.

A respected member of the European Union, a role model of international finance and a benchmark in comparisons of quality of life, Luxembourg enjoys a prosperity that nations many times larger aspire toward and envy.

The north of the country lures outdoors enthusiasts with sylvan settings promising fabulous skiing and hiking. The Moselle Valley, just east of Luxembourg City, is one of Europe's most idyllic wine-producing regions. And the capital is no more than an hour's drive from anywhere else in the country, so you can truly get a sense of the lay of the land without spending eons running around.

Well I am back from holyday. I was in Belgium for 14 days. I have mis the site, that is a fact for me.But I am back and I realise that this is my 300 photo here on TE. I choose, ofcoarse for a classic sky photo. I hope you like the composition too.

Welcome back, Jaap. I'm taking a break from TE over the weekend, but I'm making an exception for this lovely photo of yours. A great "painting" in your signature way, well composed with the barn in a good position on the green and blossoming May pasture. As always, a fine sky to top it all off. J'apprécie toujours l'aspect dramatique du ciel qui prouve que l'on peut faire de bonnes compositions par tous les temps.
Le décor est simple, mais c'est très bien présenté.

Alles ok na uw vakantie, mooie plaatjes geschoten? En een dikke proficiat voor uw 300ste foto Jaap!
Ik ben al gelukkig u terug te vinden tussen die massa met opnieuw een prachtig Luxemburgs plaatje, en volledig in het stijl van Jaap, groen op de voorgrond en een immense wolken hemel als hoofd brok.

Great image of an old village. I love such images where U can see a big fragment of such unforeseeable sky. The colors are very natural and subtele. I really like it.

Goedeavond Jaap,
mooi dat je terug bent,en met een prachtig plaatje van de Luxembourgse landschap.
Goede compositie in het "carper format" met een uitstekende speel van de wolken in de lucht en mooie lijnenspeel en kleuren in de voorgrond.

Hi Jaap, A well composed picture. A hint of a road leads us from the right corner to this sheld. A beautiful view of the open field. My impression to Luxembourg is the big city in the small country. Thanks for showing us the rural part of the country.

Hope you had nice time, interesting view that does not exactly match the cliche view of Luxemburg, the country of banks and big finance ! Instead you painted us a pleasant and relaxing countryside with a well placed little barn and a truely carperian sky. Nice one and happy celebration !

Dag Jaap, bedankt voor je bezoekje en je commentaar aan mijn 100e foto. Proficiat met jouw 300e foto!
Luxemburg is inderdaad een klein stipje op de wereldbol, maar toch zo gekend. Dit is niet meteen het beeld waar ik aan denk als ik Luxemburg voor ogen neem, maar dat is het leuke aan fotografie: je kijkt mee door de ogen van een ander en zo leer je zo veel andere (mooie) dingen ontdekken. Het beroemde wolkenspel à la Carper ontbreekt hier ook niet (jaja, er wordt in ander foto's naar verwezen; dan kan het alleen maar goed zijn, is het niet?). Weer een heel schoon shot van je; bedankt.

first of all, my compliments for your 300° shot!! ;D))
As usual for you, a magnificent sky dominate the scene, but the whole compo is interestig! For me, what i mostly like to see is the "strip of light" in the fields, surrounded from little, whites flowers!
Excellent technical accuracy al always (even if perhaps only in the hut we have a little too dark shadows)

Mooie rustieke foto met een prachtige hemel. De dramatische wolken geven deze foto een geheel andere sfeer. De schuur is een mooie toevoeging. Gefeliciteerd met de 300ste!

This is a great landscape shot that demonstrates how, in my view, a good digital camera and photographer can create a painterly effect without skewering sharpness. The POV is excellent and there are good proportions between the sky and the main subject matter. Contrast and definition are also superb. This is excellent work and a pleasure to view.

Prachtig werk Jaap, ik ga weer verder terug in je portfolio. Hier is je prachtige trademark wolkenlucht weer, nu boven Luxemburg. Het schuurtje op het zeer fraai weergegeven akkerland staat er mooi bij. Ik blijf hier graag naar kijken Jaap!
